Yeah, I can't tell you how many times I've seen 4-year olds in costumes dancing around, worshipping the devil. [/sarcasm]

Nice tract. You might want to use a background other than that eye-bleeding orange.

You might also want to take the writings of the Romans with a few grains of salt. Given the fact that the Romans spent a significant amount of time and energy hating the Celts (they were a bit cranky about that whole "invading Rome" thing), they had a tendency to make spurious claims about the Celts.

And you might want to double-check some of those other citations as well, while you're at it. A number of them are rather dated, and current Celtic scholarship shows that they're based on inaccurate findings.

I think that in the past some of these holidays had pagan origins (There are pagan ones for Christmas and Easter too), I would not say that modern day Halloween is celebrated as such, OR imply that someone, who is born again, is going to hell because the happen to celebrate that holiday.
That's not grace if you can lose your salvation over ignorance.

Its a different holiday now, and BTW I don't celebrate it either because its gotten so dangerous I usually participate in a church fall festival.

As Jesus said its not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out. Even if Halloween USED to be a pagan holiday, they way we celebrate it to day is not. In fact I would argue it is a separate holiday all together.

Rodney C. Yes it was a celtic holy day. Called Samhain. It was a day they honored those of family and friends who had passed away.

They believed that on that day, actually celebrations started at dusk the day before which would be October 31st, thru November 1st, some celebrated it on November 7th, that the veil between the world of the living and the dead was at its thinnest and you could communicate with those who had passed away.

So it was a day to honor your realitves who were no longer living. It was celebrated with fires and dancing and feasts.

Now in some cultures it was the last harvest of the year...so they celebrated the bounty of food they had grown, nutured that would keep them from starving over the winter.

In other cultures it was the time of the big hunt. Again food being the big thing, they would celebrate the bountiful hunt that meant they would not starve.

Satan was not something they believed in. He came with the Christians...And yes their priest were called Druids...

You really should learn your history before you try to educate others about it. Actually my religion celebrates Samhain...many in the Celtic tradition and there is nothing satanic about it...remember wiccans and pagans don't believe in Satan...Halloween is a commerical holiday that is more for candy and money...Samhain is a very old old religious holy day from paganism. And I repeat has nothing to do with any entity called Satan.

Please take the time to learn about a custom or religion before you try to educate others about it.

Blessings,
Aviana

I believe you.
I don't like Halloween, either. Thanks for standing up for Jesus! That's more than I can say for a lot of people who "call" themselves Christians.
Why not try passing out the Gospel tracts in Trick or Treat bags? It is a good way to spread the gospel, and they will come right to your door! God Bless!

Where is your QUESTION in all this?

I have yet to know anyone... ANYONE... who has lost their soul as a result of going trick-or-treating. If one objects to the "darker" costumes, there are lots of alternatives which can be used.

Halloween is such a "children's holiday" that to leave a child out is to aid in ostricizing them.

We celebrate other non-Christian holidays, i.e. Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, New Years, 4th of July, etc. without any negative effects on our souls. It is how we perceive it and not it "itself" which creates the problems.

I respect your objections to Halloween, but in the larger scheme of things, it's such a minor thing to worry about.

Have a blessed day.

Our family just USES the devil's dark day to give out candy and with it a tract about how Jesus NEVER tricks you, but ALWAYS treats you and there is NO fear or terror in Christ.
Use every opportunity and BE SWEET!

I guess you'll be getting a bag of rocks this Halloween with an attitude like that!

Thanks for the rant and two points. Halloween is just a holiday for kids (teens, and adults) to dress up and have fun, getting candy, etc. No need to tack on any satanic cult stuff with it. And why is paganism a satanic religion? There is nothing about the Devil or evil about it, for your God's sake...they worship nature! What's so satanic about that? Give it a rest fundie, you sicken me with your presence.

Halloween is just another one of those capitalist holidays that occurs in the fall/winter. It doesn't mean anything. Some crazy people do weird things on Halloween, but they do it because they are weird and crazy not because it's Halloween. Kids get dressed up in costumes, collect candy and have fun. Adults dress up in costumes, get drunk and have fun. What's the big deal?
