I want to buy a bow from a friend whose draw length is 25 inches, mine is 27, but I will be using a relese. This is my first bow and i want to buy it just to get used to a bow, not to use forever. Is this going to matter alot, also I would like to talk to any women archers for tips and advice

It is very relevant. You should check to see if the draw can be extended to 27 from 25. Some bows do not allow for draw length extension passed a certain distance because it will effect the operation of the cams. Check on that first and foremost. If it can, then get it! Sorry I am not a lady, but as far as tips go, they should be the same for men and women. Practice makes perfect and in archery, practice makes for a more fun time too. If you don't practice then you most likely won't be much of a good shot and you won't enjoy it as much as you should. Go into your local archery shop and shoot a few arrows in front of your local expert and ask him or her what you could improve upon. If they are worth their salt they will be able to correct any and all mistakes in your form and technique. Good luck and most importantly have fun... otherwise why do it!

draw length is very important before you buy the bow make sure it can be adjusted to fit your draw length.
If the length is too short you will be short arming the bow and developing bad habits and it is also a safety issue when it comes to arrow length etc.

yes draw lenght matters... without proper draw lenght you will not be able to correctly ancor in the same spot every time to achieve consistant shooting. see is the bow can be expanded to 27 inches at your local dealer. most bows can be changes by changing cams or modules, but be sure this is not one of the bows that can not. im not a women, but i do set up the bows for all the women in my family..... my wife daughter and mother. hope this helps you

Go ahead and get. You can take it to an archery shop and have them to adjust the draw length out to 27 inches for you. But you will have to get longer arrows or use an over draw rest. You can also get those at an archery store.
Have fun.
