The wimp who made it through the eliminations on luck alone will suddenly turn into Bruce Lee when you're up against him.

The referee will always be looking the other way when you score.

You will have trouble with the ties on your dobok pants when members of the opposite sex are in class.

The day you leave work early to make it to class on time, the instructor will be sick.

The instructor will only use you during demonstrations for joint-locking techniques.

If you have to use your training in self-defense, your attacker's father will be a lawyer.

After a flawless demonstration, you will trip on your way back to your seat.

After years of training without a single injury, you will pull a groin muscle the night before your black belt exam.

In an otherwise vacant locker room, the only other person will have the locker right next to yours.

No matter how many times you take care of it before your promotion exam, you will invariably have to go to the bathroom when it's your turn

Sounds about right and applies to most everything. Simplified it reads, "if anything can go wrong, it will"

On the final day of my promotional exam for purple belt in Aikido back during my college years, I suddenly had a bad case of Diarrhea while I was on the mat doing the endurance test and breakfall drills. I had to stop and run to the bathroom every 5 minutes and the worst part was that on my last visit to the toilet, I ran out of tissue paper and had to make do with a dipper of water and some used receipts rummaged from my wallet, needless to say the exam was a real t0rture and I spent the whole afternoon rolling around the mat with a wet and sticky feeling up my backside and constantly glancing over my shoulder to see if I had stains on my pants : P

LOL very funny indeed and so true, I can at least explain one of these. When I was graduating boot camp in the Navy we had to go to a graduation ceremony which lasts about 2-4 hours and I think I had to go for about 2 hours of it. Turns out nervousness and anxiety causes the body to over regulate water in the body and fill your bladder. I never had this problem when facing review for promotion because I knew my masters very well and most were friends of the family.

Retain the purity of your vision Grasshopper. By retaining the vision you stay focussed and not let the forces of distraction intrude. Draw your energy to the centre line of self and don't let it be scattered by distraction. Focus on one thing at a time with an awareness of self and your environment in the background. :)

Can certainly relate to some of these and could be a bit more cynical about the motives of some referees who fail to spot scores!
