In honor of our "Hillbilly" night, We in the hills of Arkansas have learned by experience that "Absence makes the heart grow fonder ..... but sometimes for someone else" - so to speak.

I don't know. But he or she should have been a bit more specific: Brief absence makes the heart grow fonder. Long absence makes the heart grow forgetful.

I don't know but I have a friend that paraphrases it, "Absence makes the heard grow fonder or younger and blonder."

In my current situation, it seemed to have caused the heart of the person in question to harden, not grow fonder.
