Yes. Raw wieners were safe to eat when I used to eat red meat. People give then to toddlers raw. Personally I would rather have the BBQ'd. Soy of course!

They are precooked. It is an American tradition to eat raw hot dogs. It's kinda like eating round lunch meat. On the gov. articles: I also read a gov. article a few years back on canning. It said that if a jar of food goes bad you are to dig a hole & pour the food out into it & bury it. Then you are to sterilize the jar & bury it in a seperate hole. Now , how much sense does that make? My friends & I couldn't stop laughing at the sheer stupidity of it & the fact that they thought we were stupid enough to do it. So........, as we all know take what the gov. tells you to do with a grain of salt. Remember Tuskegee, Alabama? Our Gov. at work.

I have been eating raw weiners for forty years. Never had a problem. The best ones are the ones that are sold in bulk wrapped individually in clear plastic. I'd stay away from the chicken weiners though

Don't know where you live, but, in the US all hot dogs sold have to be already cooked. So, yes, if you live in the US and like them cold!
