If you're looking to do some reading, I'd recommend "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham (which will give you all the information you need to start practicing the religion on a daily basis), and "The Triumph of the Moon" by Ronald Hutton (for history). I advise you to stay away FAR from anything by Silver Ravenwolf, for reasons outlined in the following essay:

Many serious Wiccans have serious problems with Ravenwolf.

Her scholarship is shoddy, her ethics are questionable, and her spells are often poorly constructed, at least in my experience.

In answer to your question, though... :-) Many Wiccan describe finding Wicca as an experience of "coming home" to something that feels totally right to them. Here are some good websites on the religion. First, a relatively objective (non-Wiccan) set of articles on what Wiccans do and believe:

Another useful article:

And good site by Wiccans:

Wicca is a path that requires a LOT of research and learning. You need to find more reliable information about it before you find yourself converting. You wouldnt run off to a new church without learning what it teaches. This is the same thing. There is nothing wrong with learning about a religion before deciding to follow it; that shows respect for the faith and a commitment.

Try finding a few books and see how you like them. Keep in mind that there are many types of Wicca and other earth based religions, so what one books says may not be the way all Wiccans see the world.
Silver Ravenwolf and Scott Cunningham are both well know authors on the subject, and their books usually also contain excellent bibliographies so you can expand your studies.

Good luck and happy exploring!

Why don't you take some time and do some reading and serious study on the religion before you jump head first into it.

I can suggest that you begin with any of Silver Ravenwolfes books, or Scott Cunningham.

You dont say how much actual reading and study you have done on the subject so Im not sure how to advise you.

These are a couple of good places to start reading also if you cant find or afford books.

Wicca is a beautiful nature based religion the recognizes a Goddess and a God and reveres the earth and as I said nature. You usually study for a year and a day, unless your doing it as a solitary (alone) then you can do it for as long as you like, however its usually done for no less then a year and a day.

I teach but only those who are completely sure they are ready to embark upon this path and devote the time and energy their training will require.
