The military in general is a great stepping stone for alot of people specially the ones that do not think it is for them. Great training and benefits than alot of other types of civilian job.

If you ever have any questions for me specifically about the Army, shoot me an email.

It's what you make of it. Our Army is great, the non-coms are the best in the world and the Officer Corps is very well educated and professional. You will be presented with a lot of opportunities to progress and increase your education, but there will also be a lot of opportunities to get into trouble and slack off. If you can assimilate and do what you are suppose to do, you can do very well. And if you don't really like it, just do a good job and get out when your initial enlistment is up, it will look good on your resume to have a successful military career, even if it is only 1 enlistment.

I entered the army in 1972 by no choice of my own. I would have been drafted but instead of serving two years as a ground pounder and getting shot at in Viet Nam I chose to join for 3 years and I got a great education out of it. I asked for the longest school they had (I qualified for anything I wanted) and got one of the top schools the services provide.
I didn't like the military because of the discipline and respect you are supposed to show to a bunch of ignorant officers.
It was tough but worth it because once I got out I could put up with anyone's s-it!
Do not worry that much about battle in Iraq. There are just as many GIs getting killed over there as there would have been if they were stateside from general accidents and accidents on maneuvers.
Besides that there are great benefits once you get out.
I guarantee you will not regret it!

JROTC, hey? Are those people in JROTC you're talking about actual instructors with military experience, or just kid cadets?

It depends. The military isn't for everyone. Anyone can assume it's good for all, but it comes down to individual preference.

You have to make the decision for yourself or you won't be happy with it. I am an Army wife, and can tell you its a difficult life. It has its benefits (healthcare, decent pay, etc), but remember...you WILL be deployed. You WILL be in harm's way. You WILL be doing an invaluable service to this entire country whether they deserve it or not. Please remember that no matter what MOS you sign up for, there have been casualties in all of them. Not trying to scare you, its just that as an officer's wife I have encountered a lot of confused people that didn't have any idea of what they were in for.

The military is what you make of it. There are lots of perks and stuff if you are willing to take the time and find out the information.
Yes you have alot of BS to put up with but overall for what you do you can get out so much more.

The military is what you make of it. Some people hate and some people make it their priority in life. It's up to you really, just like with any job.

A tour in the military will do you a world of good. It was the smartest thing I ever did.

You can get out after your tour is up, it doesn't have to be a career,
