Sounds like you are doing everything right, just make sure it looks like it's healing.

Some people believe that, in some people, staph aureus can hide out in the nose in between infections. Seems the immune system has a hard time killing it when it's hiding in/near the roots of the nasal hairs.

If someone has had repeated bouts of staph infections (e.g. it appears that the infection keeps coming back from somewhere), some practitioners will recommend applying antibiotic ointment to the insides of both nostrils twice a day - either in conjunction with oral antibiotics or on it's own.

I'm not aware that anyone's formally studied it with the current MRSA bug BUT it seems pretty harmless to give it a try. Good luck!

I am surprised the doctor did not prescribe a more powerful topical antibiotic cream. When you bathe, you should also have been given a script for an antibiotic liquid soap. Other than that, just don't mess with it.

You may want to keep it covered. Did the doc give you antibiotics? Sounds like you are doing everything you can. You may want to boost your vitamin intake to build your immune system to help fight the infection.

It depends where the staph is located. Keep it dry and covered...and I hope your on an antibiotic.
