Exodus “Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your god; you shall not do any work – you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days, the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is on them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and consecrated it.”

Deut. “Observe the sabbath day and keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work – you, or your son or your daughter , or you male or female slave, or your ox or your donkey, or the resident alien in your towns, so that your male and female slave may rest as well as you.”

Exodus was the earlier work and deut was later, using exodus' parts for writing the summary of the whole history if Israel. Hence, exodus is what commanments most likely looked like, while deut is rewriting them from writers own perspective. Basicaly, although rephrased, they both say exactly the same - the sabbath day is the day you shall dedicate to God (that's why most of us go to church on Sundays)

And the sabbath day IS sunday, not saturday. ANcient hebrews had different calculation of time and days, so it was indeed saturday TO THEM, but it is not important which day it is of the week, for as long s it is seventh. You don't need a lot of brains to figure out on the calendar which one is the seventh! And Sabbath means "the day of rest" or something alike in hebrew

God's Seal - Mark of authority In the heart of the 10commandments we find: God's name. -"The Lord your God"His title- "Creator"His territory- "Heaven and earth"
The Sabbath is considered God's seal among His people. The Sabbath recalls Creation. A reminder that God is our Creator and we are His creatures.Satan hates the truth that God is the creator. The theory that the Sabbath was abolished or changed to Sunday is an example of Satan's attempts to deceive and separate us from our Creator.
The Sabbath is an everlasting covenant; a biblical symbol of sanctification.
In more than 140 languages around the world, Sabbath is the seventh day and it means Saturday.
"Remind"- Bible history reveals that by Moses' time, after years of slavery in Egypt, the Israelites had forgotten about the Sabbath. For 40 years they collected 'Manna' 6 days a week, but never on the 7th day Sabbath. The Sabbath began at creation, before any Jews existed. Therefore, they needed to be "reminded".
Jesus did not come to abolish the Law/Sabbath, He came to fulfill it. If the Law could been abolished, Jesus would not have had to die on the cross. In the new covenant- His law is now written in our hearts. If God is in our hearts and we love Him, our only desire will be to do His will. God's grace is our only means of salvation. But grace always leads to obedience, never disobedience.
-Isaiah 66:22-23- from one Sabbath to another, everyone will come to worship The Lord(this will take place in the new earth after the second coming-7th day Sabbath)
-Matthew 24:20-But pray that your flight is not in the winter or on the Sabbath day(persecution of the saints/ people usually congregate on the Sabbath)
Always remember that the Sabbath is a memorial of Creation, not resurrection.

The next verse is relevant:

Deuteronomy 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

What you see is that the people are being reminded through the sabbath who there God is: the God who created all things, resting on that seventh day, and the God who freed them from slavery, giving them rest, commemorated by the sabbath.

It not easy to give a short answer to this. The rest of God originated in creation (Gen 2:2). This creation rest was forever lost to man when he fell into sin. So in the law we see a shadow of it in the Sabbaths (all, not just the weekly) and what you see in the law being again given just before the people would enter the "promised land- again a shadow of eternal rest" is the picture of rest continuing to be revealed more to us by God and so the transition form creation to deliverance from Egypt which fore shadows our deliverance form sin. Then after Christ comes we have the Lords day or the Christian Sabbath as the most clear picture of the eternal Rest of God as it is revealed in Christ who has ended our warfare and made peace between us and God.
If your read Hebrews 3 and 4 you will see how God always was revealing the Eternal Rest and that the physical land of Canaan was not the real rest but Jesus is the real Rest of God and in Him we find it for ourselves.
Hebrews 4:10
For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!!
Sunday -Friday were considered working days for the hebrew culture. Friday sun down begins the sabbath or shabbot. and saturday sun down ends the sabbath
To keep it holy is to just what God commanded REST their are rules that God placed on the sabbath and there are man made rules too. It is considered a time of worhip a time to go to synagog and remember the things God did ( you should attend just one they are rich in culture and facinating language and meaning) Now why don't christians keep the sabbath? that is a good question because ask us and we will tell you "obey your parents" "do not commit adultery" "do not lie" ect...but this one hmmm get them a little mad about the "law" there is a good question for you next....hope I answered your question the two references above are quite similar and that is basically that.

It means Moses was getting old when he wrote Deuteronomy. By his own admission, he received and wrote the other books of the Torah while they were camped at Sinai and Numbers was written along the road during their wandering. Deut. was written some 40 years later - it was a speech by Moses to the community before they crossed over the Jordan. He knew he was going to die, so he wrote it down for them there at Jordan - a long, long time after Sinai.

Later, the book of Deuteronomy and the similar-style books that follow in the Bible were redacted by Ezra the Scribe upon his return from the Exile. Apparently, he didn't have a copy of the earlier books of the Torah, those were restored later. So either Moses was getting old, or Ezra made a mistake.

There is no difference between the two. They both tell us to keep the LORD'S Sabbath, the seventh day. To rest from all our work and delight in his day.

most people call sunday the sabbath day, mine used to be on tues. because I only had mon and tues's off. so that was my day to rest. Nowadays, my 2 sons are esamples, they work 7 days a week, because they have so much work, they both own businesse's, the price of workers comp and everything else went up, they get jobs where they have to work 7 days a week, so I pray for them I don't think the lord will look down on them badly

Deuteronomy is just a reiteration of the ten commandments. It is still the same ten commandments. I believe it is Moses summarizing them in Deuteronomy. The Sabbath commandment is very valid, just as the other nine commandments. There is a lot of information on this subject. The seventh day is Saturday (not Sunday) as most believe.
