Many grilling recipes recommend grilling steak on a direct-medium fire (350°F to 375°F) on a covered grill. For gas grills this usually means starting the grill on high for about 10 minutes to get the grilling surface searing hot, then turning the settings to medium for grilling.
On charcoal, spread the coals then put the grill on for about 5 minutes with the cover closed to get the grill searing hot.
For grilling times we use the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. Enter the cut, thickness and doneness you want and it will give you instructions for how to grill your steaks just the way each of your guests want them, and so that they all come off the grill at the same time.
The advice to let them stand at room temperature 20-30 minutes before grilling and letting them rest for 5 minutes before cutting is also excellent.

in addition to these great answers, the 1st thing to do to get a great steak, is take the steak out of the fridge for at least 1/2 hour before putting on the grill and then letting it rest for at least 5 minutes after you take off the grill.

The best way to cook a steak is to have the grill hot, at least 350 and put the meat on. When the grill is that hot it will seer the meat, and lock in the juices. Only turn the meat once, turning to many times, will make it tough.

you not gonna burn the steak, what you actually doing is creating a thin crust on the bottom of the steak that prevents the juices from dripping out.
You should flip a steak no more than 1 time when cooking on a grill.

You want to cook a steak on as high of a heat as possible in general because you want to scorch the outside without drying out the inside. Moisture is key to a good steak!

Most everyone has the right idea here. Sear the tuna on a very hot grill just a few minutes each side, leaving it red in the center.
