do so many Christians, when pressed by atheists, furiously argue that there is copious TANGIBLE evidence for god, "all around us." We all know faith is belief without evidence, but they go to great lengths to attempt to prove god exists via evidence... by dissecting science, by demonstrating the odds against the spontaneous assembly of DNA, by arguing how thermodynamics favor a god and a "created" universe, by marveling at the physical complexity of intelligently designed things like trees and eyeballs.
But according to god, the only thing that matters is faith, so shouldn't all Christians automatic response to atheists simply be, "you just have to believe." Isn't this what god instructed them to do?
Why do they bother trying to prove god exists through EMPIRICAL methods? In a sense, each time they use these empirical techniques to try and prove god, aren't they disobeying the very instruction god tells them is most important... belief without question - through faith?

You are right, these christians are wrong. see my statement here:
http://www.kingdom-gospel.com/evidence.html
Personally, I don't need physical evidence for my faith or salvation. But when it comes, it only builds me up. Faith is in the unseen. I've never seen Australia, but I believe it's there. I have faith in maps. However, if you want physical evidences that evolution is not true or evidence of creation then check the links below. ..I wish to add that from time to time folks want to debate with me about evolution or creation. I refuse to do such, because even if I win, I will not cause faith to be present. Arguing science does not produce faith but the Word of God does.

You make a good point here. If a Christian REALLY wanted to prove God's existence in the tangible world, would not that Christian have to come up with the final object's parameters? In the end, the Christian would have to define God unquestionably and exactly in order to definitively take the experiment to its logical conclusion. Using scientific method to prove something that has no tangible existence is an absurdity and does not follow scientific method. But....once God is defined scientifically, wouldn't faith begin to slip and become more dependent on the tangible, defined God?
Once you define God in the tangible, He loses that power of omnipotence. I, too, do not understand why Christians make the effort to find God using science, since, if their quest is successful, it would destroy their faith and cast their religion into oblivion and confusion. You are right. Without faith, God cannot maintain His place in the belief system.
I think believers are simply making an empty gesture in order to infiltrate the schools and scientific institutions, since no one I know of has set down the necessary parameters that define God. Even "irreducible complexity" makes a leap at the end that does not prove initiation by God, since God is undefined.

Today science has proved a lot of things in religion right.Sodom and Gomorrah were found and so was the city of Troy.According to science there is an afterlife.Your body runs off electrical energy. When you die its also prove that the energy just doesn't disappear,it goes somewhere. There were tests done to people who were dying. They were put on electronic scale(with their permission of course)and at the moment of their death, their weight dropped by just a few grams.Maybe that's how much a human soul weighs. But regardless of what religion you are.Weather you're christian Jewish,or even if you are Atheist. If you just live your life by the Ten Commandments then you will live a good life. You don't even have to believe in god to know that.I'm a believer in science and I also believe in god.I won't be surprised if one day science is used to prove gods existence. But if that day comes it won't be any time soon.

Very interesting question and to a point you are right. God does ask us to use faith. However, God wants us to also talk to people on their level. Since some people only look at factual, tangible evidence in order to "believe" anything, we must meet them at their level. This means that as Christians, we must show how God exists in the tangible world.

Yes you are correct. Faith is very personal but sometimes I found that I am possessive and prescriptive about it.
It is a natural tendency and a phase in the development of faith. I found, those that have the deepest faith do not speak much. They instead show by the way they live. They give inspiration and life to everyone regardless of religion.
Thanks for the reminder. God Bless.

In Heb 11:1 it says that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence on things not seen. So as a Christian, I have my proof in the faith I hold... I don't need further proof.
But when trying to show an unbeliever valid points in their world (understanding) that point to God, I ask them questions they can relate to, as they don't have faith as I.
I don't need to prove God as such, He is Who He is, I just try and further reveal His magnificence where I can...
Take care, God bless

I'm not convinced they are trying to prove God exists when debating on issues of facts and theories. I think there is nothing wrong in having opinions of how this or that would not apply in the area of God or how one could see it from another point of view. All Christians know, without doubt, nothing but the Spirit will convince the heart of man of God's existence.

Then of course, it follows when you need to remodel some portion of your home, you hire someone from a print ad or flier. It is only on faith, right?
No. Do you mean you would check references and go to see what his work is as experts strongly recommend? Is that not faith BASED on something?
That is why Romans 10:13-15 urges us to understand not everyone just one day has faith without any foundation.
We see that all the things you mentioned in your question did not come about by accident. Someone of highest intelligence put these things together for life to occur on purpose. That is only some of the reasons we believe in God.

I like your question, but I bet part of the reason they try to come up with "evidence" is because atheists challenge them by saying "prove it." They could then counter with "you just have to believe," but atheists will never buy that, and many of them want to convert us. I also suspect that atheists cause Christians to doubt and they're trying to prove God's existence to themselves.

There's no tangible evidence here.
Never was and never will be.
The Spirit of God is not of this reality.
I have evidence in the fact that some people love unconditionally. I believe that God is love and those people prove God to me.
Now prove with tangible evidence that love exist.
