He didn't, He just said to go out and make disciples of them.

I don't believe that Acts 2:46 is assigning house to house ministry in the sense that you are asking the question. They were going house to house, but it was a fellowship of believers and not an attempt to convert the lost.
In Matthew 28:19-20 where we find the great commission, Go ye therefore into all the world.....is about as close as we can come to a house-to-house ministry.

As Jesus and the disciples traveled in their day, their popularity preceded them, and there was really no need to go house to house, as people flocked to them. They did, however, go house to house where the people could not come to them, due to illness or other physical or mental afflictions.

I do not believe there is a scripture that says"go house-to-house" There is scripture as I mentioned above, that implies that need. It stands to reason, that if you are going to be a witness for Christ, and the people will not come to you, then you must go to them. I hope this helps.

God called us to be witnesses, not lawyers or Judges.

Acts 2:46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and (breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart.

The church I go to actually has a ministry like this where we meet once a week in small groups. We have several. This allows us to meet in smaller groups instead such a large group so we may get to know each other, and if we invite visitors, they may feel more comfortable going to someones house instead of church. Hope this answers your question.
