In this book I read it said that in the muslem religion, the men are instructed to beat their wives if they don't please them and to harm others that don't believe what they do. In christianity, we are taught to love our enemies and respect everyone. So my question is, is this religion really necessary if all it does it teach people to be violent.?

Take a look at the news some night... Almost 100% of terror in the world is perpetrated by Islamics. The answer is a definate yes. The Koran teaches murder and violence.

No. The muslem religon does not teach violence. But as you can see, that does not stop people from being violent. The muslem religon is a lot like the Christian religon only with a different name for thier god. over the last cople of centery's the muslem faith has been tainted. So there are though's (muslem's) who fallo the religion with it's pure intention's, and there are though's (such as osama) who fallo it with the intention of killing. In the Chistian faith god does comand war's, but only in an act to restore freedome.

No. I am a muslim women and let me tell you this is the most peaceful tolerant religion. The prophet of allah (God) tells us that the best of us is the men who are the most respectful to their wives. The prophet (peace be upon him) never hit any of his wives. In war we are not even suppose to keep prisoners that we have to release them. Allah also tells us if we began to kill someone that is about to kill us and they say Iam sorry don't kill me we have to release them. We only fight against those who fight against us. The prophet of Allah didn't even like the Idea of harming an insect or a tree. Now women are naturally emotional and sometimes a little neurotic and if we become to out of hand it says to hit them but you cannot leave a mark or a bruise, just a little pop to snap them out of it. We are also told to be patient with those on other religions because you will never know who is a believer or not. Their is not violence unless someone fight against us or try to drive us out of or land and this is the only reason why we should fight.
Don't listen to what people say read the Noble quran for yourself because what the haters do is pull a quote from the book about killing but right after it may say but if you result to peace this is more better for you. So be careful

I dont know which book you are refering to but its simply not true. As a muslim woman no one and i mean NO ONE has ever beat me, not my father, not my brother and certainly NOT my husband. Women in Islam could not be treated further from what you are suggesting in this book. Women are respected, protected and loved like you would not believe. A wife to a muslim man is his ultimate treasure to be loved and adored and treated with tenderness and care. Muslim men dont have girlfriends or date the what all there lives till that one special woman comes along. Does abuse happen in Muslim marraiges? Yes. But that is to do with a person being abusive not the faith teaching him that. Can a Catholic man or a Christian man or an athiets man or a Jewish man or a Hindu man etc abuse there wifes? Yes. But for the same reasons they are abusive men there faith does not teach it.
I have never been taught "violence" in the Islamic faith. Are there violent people and extremist in the faith? Yes. But again that is because of the person they are same goes for say catholics did they teach the IRA to bomb and terrories citizens in the UK? No. Where they catholic? Yes. Did the christian faith teach Bush its ok to kill over 60,000 Iraqi citizens? No. But is his government doing that? Yes. Killing innocent civilian men, women and childrnen. He is a man of faith but is his faith teaching him that these acts of violence are part of his faith? NO. Same goes for Islam are there people who are violent and kill people? Yes. No one is denying that but that is not what the faith teaches, big difference.
No we are not taught to be violent! Maybe you should talk to some muslims where you live, read a book written by muslims and see what we are taught. Only love for God his creation, his creatures, his everything. To forget to feed your cat is a sin so does that sound like a faith that teaches violence to you?

No it does not teach this. Not at all. Beating, causing harm to others is a big sin in Islam. Take a look at Hinduism though, in the earlier days, they believed when the husband dies, the wife should be burned alive as a sacrifice for him.

No it does not. It is the occupation of their lands by non-Muslims, raping their women and stealing their resources that make it necessary for them to fight back to liberate their country, save their culture and religion and provide thier descendents freedom to live the way they want.
Wouldn't Americans fight if Russians or any other race from outer space come and occupy America?
