I am going to be traveling to Sydney in a few months and I am quite curious about what reactions I may get from people regarding my accent. I have been told it isn't a strong souther sound, but it is there. I personally find all Australian accents sexy. They are very pleasing to the ears, and I am hoping that a southern young woman's accent isn't one of those accents that is gross and terribly annoying.

It's not the accent, it's the person using it. Every time Dubya Bush opens his mouth he annoys me but I don't judge all Texans by him. I'm sure you'll have a great time. We hear accents from all over the world in Sydney and don't mind them at all.

I'm afraid that you might experience some small amount of rudeness from some Australians. The Andrew Denton film on the Texan Christian Fundamentalists put Texas in a negative light, and you may be stereotyped as the Muslim bashing Texan, which I am sure isn't true. However, this should be a small thing, and hopefully won't happen to you. lol, we are very polite people....usually. I thank you for the lovely compliment you gave to us about our accents. It's nice to be appreciated. Enjoy your trip

The texas accent is fine. Im sure a few blokes will show some interest when they hear it. The most annoying accents are new york and boston ones. Anything that sounds like "the nanny" is really annoying.

I think the southern accent is pretty cool.

However, don't expect people to know what state you come from by your accent, my friends insulted a New York lady terribly once by suggesting that she was from somewhere (anywhere) else.

Everyone sounds like they have an accent except when they are at home.

It's what you say, not the accent you have when you say it. That is the important thing.

You'll be fine, we like nearly everyone who's friendly and interesting. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I love it and I think it's sexy, southern folk are usually more softly spoken and a little less intense than other Americans.

I hate it when all you can hear in the pup is a young american girl yelling "OH MY GOD, JESUS CHRIST, OH MY GOD, NOO, GET OUT!"

I think Johnny Cash has the coolest accent ever... he is a Texan ain't he?
