I have learned one thing from being a race fan for many years...if YOU don't get it...you never will. I have tried to convert several people but but if they don't get it, nothing can convince them that NASCAR is cool.
The simple answer is that this is competition. People have their favorite drivers, and their favorite teams to root for. I personally think that baseball sucks. But when the Cubs are winning, I can sit down and watch the game.
The thing that I don't understand is the extreme hatred towards the people who enjoy NASCAR from the people who don't get it. I have never seen a person who does not like football hurl stereo types and racial epitaphs at the fans who like football.
I don't consider myself a simple minded hick trailer dwelling sister loving red neck, but if that what you think of me, go toss a Garth Brooks salad music boy! Country sucks.

You know, If NASCAR were to collapse tomorrow, It wouldn't bother me a bit. I've been a fan of NASCAR for over 30 years, but the last few have really gotten on my nerves. It has come to the point that on Sundays, when the NASCAR race is on, I will turn to the CORR race (I can't stand CORR and that frigging Marty Reid, I'd rather watch WSORR, but they don't start airing races till November), just because it isn't NASCAR. If there's no CORR, I watch either ARCA, or WoO Late Models or Sprints. If there's nothing else on, I will watch NASCAR.
It's really a shame that I can't take the time to personally introduce every person that says they hate NASCAR to the world of NASCAR. There's so much more that goes on behind the scenes that make a race that much more interesting. It's not all just a bunch of cars goping around in a circle. There's strategy, timing, and a lot of other things going on. I used to watch every second of NASCAR coverage that was on TV, including qualifying, practice, and RPM2Nite (the origin of NASCAR Now). When race day rolled around, I knew what to watch for, who to watch, who was starting where, who was in a back-up car, and why they were, plus any other info that was pertinent to the race that day.

i love nascar! there is something about fast cars and the unpredictability of when and who is going to be involved in the wrecks and who is gonna make it to the front. Following a driver makes it about where he is gonna finish and in the grand scheme of things, if he will be in the chase, or not.
Either you have the nascar bug or you don't. it attracts some while it doesn't for others, thats how it is for everything.

My advice to you is to jump in head first. Go to an actual race. I hated it before I got married but since my husband loves it I had to learn to love it too. He took me to the Talladega race. There's so much excitement and the fans just feed off one another's energy. Also, Nascar is about the only sport left that hasn't been corrupted by drugs and all that other crap. It's still "pure" in a sense.

Here's the deal, kid. Thank God there's more than one kind of racing. Thank God again that there are other things that you can enjoy. Because no one asked your permission to enjoy NASCAR. In fact, no one asked your permission to like or dislike anything. Some people really like NASCAR. In fact, it's often a bigger draw than the NFL or MLB. The Angels can't even sell out a home game, but Fontana will pack nearly 100,000 people into the stands to watch a Nextel race. Sometimes I like to watch NASCAR, sometimes I don't. Sometimes they drive on an oval, sometimes they drive a road course. Here's how you should word your question, and any others like it. "I don't care for ______. I know that it is my personal opinion, but I would like to know how other people feel about it." That way, you don't offend so many people.

Dude..you need to go to a race...The sound of the engines, the fans, the drivers, speed, action, its a adrenaline rush...I've been around it all my life, and thats a long time..Once you go. you will be addicted...TV coverage especially now on ABC, totally sucks...Its 100% better in person.. Its a exciting experience you will never forget, and you will not be able to wait till the next race...Like right now...I'm so ready for martinsville this weekend...can't wait...Yep, I'm a Nascar Addict..and loving every minute of it.....

I HATE NASCAR also, but IndyCar is freakin awesome!!!!!! They have a lot of road courses (they have a lot of turns) Even though I hate NASCAR, you shouldn't put a question in the NASCAR category saying that you hate it!!! If you want to put it in auto racing, you should have put it in the F1 category, or the IRL category!!!!! And also, it is not just going around in circles!! You try to pass people, which is hard, at 175 to 220 mph!!! Id like to see you do that!!!!!!! There is sooooo much strategy in racing. Most people like you don't even know what ur talking about when you start saying that you hate NASCAR. I hate baseball, but I actually know a lot about it and have gone to many games.
