I'm just wondering because I've read that an older, 50+ woman, is supposed to eat about 400 fewer calories than a 18 year old woman of the same activity level. Most older people I know have smaller appetites than I do because I'm young. So, why are so many older people overweight? I'm just wondering because I've never been one of those people who has been inclined to slimness, though I'm not overweight and have a large frame. How can I keep my figure as I age besides the obvious (not having kids).

As we Age- some of the Muscle we have -turns to fat... And since we tend to be LESS active as we get Older, we burn fewer Calories- while eating the SAME amount of food. So, little by little- those "unburned calories" pile up- here, & THERE, & ALL OVER the place... And so we tend to get fat. So we can DO- either one of TWO things as we age; gradually eat LESS, or start Exersizing MORE. It's a TOUGH Choice; but is getting FAT- any better??! :0

I am 43 and weigh the same I did when I was 18. The theory to eat less is just what I do, but I also stay active. Food has never been a big deal with me. I recommend for those that are older is stay active. Obviously you wont be able to do what you did as a kid, but I have found swimming to be a low impact great exercise that works well.

Unfotunately, there is a time when you must decide between face and boddy. I guess you chose body. Just exercise and eat really healthy. When you have dessert have skinny cow icecream or something
