Doberman Or Boxer?

I,ve had both...I really like the boxer!!!!!I have three boxers now and they are great proud animals...They are my kids!!!Dobermans can be skiddish due to over breeding...Boxers are fun loving playful...They stay puppies forever!!!I have a 10 year old male who acts like a 3 year old....Two of my boxers are adopted...They needed a home or they would be put down....Rescue is a great way to go!!They have many to choose from...Just stay away from the white boxers..They are a real handful!!!

I agree with most of what "forest_b" wrote, if you have never had either, go with the boxer! Both are lovely in their own ways, but the boxer might be easier to train if you have not had a large breed or working breed before. I would just add to really check out the breeder first and ask LOTS of questions if you buy a puppy. If you get an adult from a breed rescue or shelter you will see dogs with their grown up personalities and see who well they will fit your home. Either way get lots of info and think hard about your lifestyle and I am sure you will find a good new friend for life.

Depends what you're looking for. I grew up with a Dobe and had a Boxer for the last 14 yrs (she passed last year). They are both awesome breeds.

Boxers are more of a good all-around family dog, a Doberman requires a bit more training and awareness on the part of the owner, as they are more traditionally a "working breed" and have that "I need a job!" spirit to their personality. You also need to be aware of the public's perception of Dobermans, they have a bit of a "bad rap" and you need to be able to combat the bad image by having a well behaved, polite dog and by being able and willing to educate others about your breed.

Boxers are happy just to be with their people, and will excel if you GIVE them a "job" to do- but they're happy as plain ol' family pets (with plenty of love and exercise). And there's not much of that "bad rap" thing, as most people assocate Boxers with being friendly and loving kids. (Except those idiots who mistake them for Pit Bulls and start lecturing you without even asking what kind of dog you have- I ran into that a few times.)

I happen to own one of both and as much as I love all my kids, Dobermans are my breed. My Boxer is a wonderful dog, but Dobermans are awesome dogs all around.

I would say a boxer because they are so good around kids if you have some I know i own one but doberman i really don't know i never had one.

I have a boxer and a mastiif ( 2 complete different personalities), and my Boxer, Maul, is a little too hyper for me. Although, my boyfriend has had them his whole life and he says that our present boxer is the calmest. (EEK!) He is one of the sweetest dogs I have had. If you want a whole lot of love, great friendship and fun, a boxer is for you. I always wanted a doberman though.

I love Dobes wouldn't have a Boxer if it were given to me that is just IMO. Dobes are fantastic dogs with children and elderly but know when to alarm you to something ( I think just about any breed can do it, just not like a Dobe) Do research on both breeds they both have pros and cons to them. Buy from a good breeder who can tell you about the breed and have quality dogs and offer a buy back guarantee. The looks of a Dobe to me are very elegant and beautiful. But they are not just for anybody. My friends Boxer is nice but she drools all over.

i had a boxer (female) and she was the sweetest thing in the world!!!!!! she had three(f) pups and then was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died after i had given away the pups.i would give anything to have another BOT can not afford to pay the high price for one. SOOO!!!! my answer would be get a boxer I WOULD
