Has anyone ever volunteered at a hospital?

How was it? What did it teach you about yourself??!!

When I was in school I volunteered. My job was to refill the water pitchers in the rooms and to bring around the cards and flowers that were delivered for the patients. It made me thankful that I was healthy and happy that I could bring a little cheer into someone's life just by smiling and chating with them. It also taught me to be more observant so that I noticed the difference between a water pitcher and a urinal. Someone almost got some really bad tasting ice water!
