If someone says 'move' I'M the one who says 'excuse me?'. It's very very rude. Even if you're in a hurry, two polite words aren't much harder than one rude one. I recently saw a man jump a huge queue at a convenience store, say 'move' to the first person in the queue, then when the person serving told him to go to the back of the line, he yelled at her and said 'I don't have time to line up, I've got a class to get to!'. All this from a man who was probably in his late 20's. I was pretty shocked. So yes. It's definitely a rude thing to do, and I probably wouldn't move out of their way.

I think the way people say "Excuse Me" depends on where they are from.
I tend to find I say a lot of words a bit, "funny" b/c of where I was raised. People have different dialects.
I'm not from New York, but A LOT of people think I am. However, my great-grandmother was from New York and my grandmother grew up there and then moved away. I'm guessing some of the NY dialects transferred to my mom's speech. She in turn walked around her whole life speaking with these "accents" So, when I came along and my mom started teaching me to talk and such.........I pick up on those "accents" my mom had.

It's been a long time since I took Italian but as I recall, "scuse" is Italian for "excuse me".
Any Italians out there to set it straight?

Totaly considers the scene. If you are around people that you are not around regularly, turn of the politeness a few notches. I would reserve "scuse" for regular peers and friends.
