Jack - I'm the opposite. I'm terrible with words, and I NEVER hurt anyone intentionally. It makes me miserable to know that I did.

I mean, that I did hurt, when I had something completely different in mind.

Sometimes I think I'm not even speaking English. Maybe alien-ese :-). I'm actually surprised that everyone hasn't banded together already to have my middle name officially changed to "misunderstood" or "freak-show"...OR, permanently etched something to this effect on my darned forehead.

Either I express myself totally wrong or when I do say something fairly well, I find myself having to repeat it; rephrasing it, like it's not even heard the first time...

Yeah, so, me? NOT so good with words.

Thanx so much for your question Moon :-). Kewl to know that I'm not the only one...

I would like to think I'm good with words, though it is probably an illusion because only a very few people seem to understand me. I'll try to be nice and let people know in advance that they are bothering me, so I don't explode all at once after the pressure has built up. If not someone will look at me and say "Whoa! Where did that come from?"

I feel I must have been good with words, actually persuasive, because that's what I did until I retired. I find it much harder on a forum like this to fully express myself. Nobody can see me slumped over my desk laughing when I am responding to a friend who has asked a question that has me in stitches, nor can they see when I read something that makes me want to cry. Sometimes I do.....cry. Sometimes I think my response will bring a giggle to others, and the thumbs down tells me someone is not laughing.

As long as I can keep my emotions from getting in the way, I'm fine. But it's always easier for me online than in person.

Why? Because then I see their body language and read into what they are feeling. Sometimes I'm right and other times I'm wrong.

And unfortunately, too many times I have eaten a food sandwich because I said the wrong thing.

I wish I always was,..yet somehow, a part of me was often left UNSAID. Sometimes, words were so easy to find, and they could relate that fast in precision. At times they got tricky and made people guessing. But there were SO MANY THINGS without a name,..in which we were forced to feed in replacement for our real thoughts when expressing them.

If only people were made the same way, with the same kind of thoughts,..then there wouldn't be fear of being misunderstood.

I have out of anger and frustration hurt those I love with words. But just as words hurt they can heal also. You should never be too stubborn, scared or embarrassed to apologize where one is needed.

It happens to everyone at times, I'd think. But I can tell you that no matter how good a person is with words, there are those who will take offense at what we say at every opportunity. They thrive on it! For those people, it's best to try and avoid them---unless you like drama! LOL

...in the spoken word, I speak slowly when I'm talking about something important 'cause I have trouble getting the right words connected...by the written word is another matter...I do better putting my feelings on paper (sort to speak) in the form of a letter or poem

I'm pretty good with words as long as I don't lose my cool. But when I do, I become inarticulate and then have a lot to apologize for when I calm down.

I can drive a screw-up, down and all around. And still - It takes me a day and forever to get my point across. I'm twice as bad in person... I too ... Don't express myself very well and find that I will have to - most of the time... To go back and say. Sorry - Please accept my apology - I've once again - Inserted my foot up too my a____________...
