No - tofu is recommended as a substitute for meat for people that have gout. Tofu contains proteins that are lower in purines than meat. Its purines that you want to avoid.

Not a doc, but as far as I'm aware, gout is more common in men who drink heavily and eat lots of red meat. You might check out some other websites for medical advice, though! I'm sure there are a few out there- just don't know if I can name them here or not.
