I don't they should cut up the existing weight classes as some have suggested, we don't need a weightclass every 5lbs or less like in boxing. We already have multiple guys going back and forth between weightclasses, we don't need anymore weightclass jumping.
But I do think they should add in a featherweight class as there is a ton of talent at 145, and as the lighter weight classes develope they should slowing begin to incorperate them.
Also, I might be alone here but even though I used to make fun of the freak matches in PrideFC, now I kind of miss them, I don't think a super heavyweight title belt would really mean a whole lot but I would love to see guys like Butterbean, Bob Sapp, Mark Hunt, and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva square off.

Flyweight has already been added. Joe Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson are fighting for the title later this year. Aside from female weight classes, there really aren't a whole lot of weight classes that they can add. Flyweight is barely established, and 115lbs, which has no official name yet, scarcely exists. Same thing with Super Heavyweight; anyone out of shape enough to not make 265lbs isn't going to put on an exciting show. I don't know anyone who's clamoring for a Butterbean-Zuluzinho rematch. I think having more weight classes is good, in general. I would rather have them aligned incrementally, though. Ten pounds between Flyweight and Bantamweight is a bigger percentage of weight than the ten pounds between Featherweight and Lightweight. I'd rather it be more like boxing or even Shooto, where the difference isn't a nice "round" number, but rather respects the different builds of the fighters who compete at those weights. The plus side of more weight classes is that it gives fighters more freedom to move up and down in weight, reinventing themselves and reinvigorating the division. It also creates the possibility for historic opportunities, as no one has held UFC titles in two different weight classes at once, as Dan Henderson once did in Pride. The main difficulty is finding enough card space to have matches that are significant to the various weight classes, but now that the UFC has dramatically increased it's number of events, that's less of a problem than it was five years ago.

there are pros and cons to adding more divisions. The pros provide some interesting matchups for those that are at the lighter end of a weight class yet can't cut to the weight class below them. The con is like stated before it becomes too flooded like boxing and you'll have fighters from all sorts of weight classes moving up and down just to try to win a belt or hold multiple belts.
Also, just because its a title fight doesn't necessarily mean its a great matchup. Look at Franklin vs. Quarry for example.
The UFC needs to work hard to keep their current divisions stacked before adding more ones. The Middleweight needs help and the Heavyweight is barely coming around now.

TItle fights don't make good cards. I would rather pay to see Tyson Griffin fight than Chuck Liddell. Try watching the undercard sometime.
EDIT: Also WEC is the home of 145's and 135's, and there is nothing fun about Superheavyweights. Basically the only class they can add is 125, and I'm not sure anyone outside of Asia is ready to go there.

i doubt they will add a superheavyweight division anytime soon(lack of talent), but i could see them adding a 145 lbs division in the next year or two. in my opinion the 145 lbs fights over in the wec are the most exciting. the only problem is that the majority of american fans would rather watch the big guys slug it out, instead of watching the 145 lbs guys go to war.

I think they are trying not to be pro boxing, where it is impossible to figure out who are the champions...and I mean in just one organization. And it is a way - through the cards - to follow the progress of a fighter from up-and-comer to title contender.

Dale are you being sarcastic or just retarded? you would never be able to do a open weight division in the us.
Also why add more titles? that just means people that can't win a title in one division will just move into another.....

You know what they should do is what Pride FC does, thats let any weight fight any weight, you know. Like look at Dan Henderson he's champ in two weight classes and in Boxing there is champs in like 5 weight classes

They need a battle royal like in wrestling, when they put all fighters together in a ring and the last one remain will win.
