my cats aren't on a special diet or anything ,but Im looking for a good food for my cats. I prefer a premium food. I found the cheaper food you feed the worse their litter box smells. So Im looking for something top of the line. Please help. Ive heard of Chicken Soup For the Soul, and Innova, but wondered what else was out there?

I have 3 cats, two are 18 +. I use a brand called Wellness made by Mother Hubbard. I have one male cat which has been diabetic up until I started using Wellness. I tried many foods throughout the years, and even specialty diets made by Purina and Hills. I have low litter box mess and excellent coats on my cats. I use both wet and dry since my older two cats are missing a few teeth. Check out the label, you might be surprised!

Canned is better by far, but there are good dry foods as well. Three are at the top of the list because they are grainless - Evo (Innova), Core (Wellness) and Raw Instincts (Nature's Variety).

When it comes to canned, there are a ton of good ones out there, along with a ton of okay ones and of course some bad ones. Although even bad canned is better than dry. Dry is best kept to no more than 50% of the total diet if you feed it at all.

I personally use Evo as a treat.

See the links below for some suggestions. I believe the first link also helps you identify good foods. But I'll summarize for you.

First, you want to see meat at the top of the list. You don't want to see "meal" or "byproducts." No form of corn, wheat or soy. No rosemary or garlic. No BHA, BHT or Ethoxyquin. No carrageenan. A minimum of fruits or veggies. Rice is just filler, avoid that.

I feed my kitties Innova EVO and they absolutely love it. Wellness is also a good brand too, so is Felidae, Nature's Variety, etc. You may want to get a small can or bag of what you decide to purchase, in case your cat doesn't like it.

My kitties have grown up on Iams, but after getting thumbs down here, I changed to Felidae, hearing it was a superior food. At first they loved the canned food, hated the dry, and now they hate the canned, and tolerate the dry. One will only still eat the Iams. I don't know what to do. They are such brats. :-) I love them and will do anything for them...

I use purina cat chow's indoor formula. The cats love it and its good for them. It keeps down their weight and is easy on their stomachs. Also its not too expensive. Good luck with the stinky poo.
