I have a .357 Sig bbl for a sig p226R. I would like to know if I could have this part shortened to the needed half inch to fit in a Sig p229R that came in .40 smith.

This is a common task for gunsmiths, but expensive.Might even be cost prohibitive.

shortening and recrowning a barrel is commonplace. But you should know, that the cost to do what you want would almost pay for a new barrel. You might want to sell the existing barel and just buy a new one.

Like the others said, it is do-able, but I would find the best deal on a new barrel and get a quote on the work and go with the cheapest.
