New Group Manager took over & within a couple of months asked me (Product Manager) to get the Product Development Team in over the weekend to prepare kit for a big Demo to key Customers first thing Monday ... and then he refused to counter-sign their Overtime Authorisations (the Company was unusual .. basic was poor but overtime was always paid up to Manager level).

Next month he tried it again but the team refused to come in .. he told me to 'sort them out', but I went directly to the Marketing Director and told him exactly what the issue was .. the Team turned up and got paid but I ended up being made Redundant a year later (surprise surprise :-) )

NB> Before this guy took over, our Group had a staff turnover of about 12% (one of the lowest in the industry) .. a year later it had reached 25% and was still climbing ... and about 2 years after I left they went bust ...

Moral - treat the Technical Staff like sh*t and they WILL leave ...
