The other answer is right. The Sheriff should have given you literature that explains your rights and the regulations that you must obey. If you have tossed them, go back to the office and ask them for more. While you are there ask them this question too. Because CCW permits are issued by the county Sherrif not by the state.

Leaving your handgun in the car is not a good idea.

For one thing, you do not have it available for immediate use if you need it.

And just as important, you are leaving it unguarded and susceptible to theft if anyone breaks into your car.

Keep it on your person and both you and your pistol will be safer.

Yes- lock it out of sight in the car...the chief of police in Seattle lost his pistol this way when his car was broken into...

DOC is wrong, this time: sometimes you have to store your weapon as carry is prohibited in certain areas like the Post Office and such.
