I used to be a mortgage adviser working in a branch of an Estate Agents - it was one of the best jobs I had - working in a sales environment is exciting. In the last few years things have changed a lot regarding salary and commission etc - the basic salary tends to be much higher now and less reliant on commisisons (call procuration fees in the mortgage business). I have always worked in financial services and really enjoy it. There are many areas to advising on mortgages, buy to lets, remortgage and of course purchases. You will need to take your mortgage exam through the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and it would help to have the Financial Planning Certificate (FPC).
