You get to decide, but you should have some strategy as to "when" you will do that, because calling too soon "weakens" you somewat in the eyes of the other person by making you appear overly eager.

Whenever you feel like it, just not then. If you want to try calling him later today just call him later today if you want to wait it out wait it out.
