Over in Normandy I saw them in bags in the supermarket freezer. I know they're supposed to be a delicacy but I could never try them..........

They're ok. Had them in garlic butter.

My moto..... Try eating any food at least once.

I must admit though I found jelly fish and mopame worm pretty disgusting.

Oh, that is so sweet of you.

Actually, yes. I love snail salad. I have also eaten escargo (French for snails.) I have never cooked them myself but the escargot were made with a garlic butter sauce and were absolutely delicious. In restaurants they serve them in the shell with this little gadget that is supposed to hold the snail in place while you remove the meat. Tricky little things, since they have a spring mechanism that will act like a catapult if you don't hold it right.

I've never seen them in the unprepared state you described! But, I have eaten escargot many times. Indeed, it is a delicacy. The taste is nothing but a delicious butter/garlic sauce. And, the texture is either like that of a mushroom or maybe very tender pieces of meat. You should really try them, sometime. You just might like em!

We was served snails whilst on holiday in Barbados.Me and my mate just looked at each other, waited for the waitress to leave then slung the snails over the restaurant balcony. Her face was a picture when she came for the plates. We wonder did she think we had ate the snails shells and all.She asked how the meal was and we could barely contain ourselves whilst saying delicious thank you.

I've eaten them, fresh snails in a hot pepper sauce, and they were lovely, a bit like mussels.
