Definitely. Some are carcinogenic, others are not. There are, however, a few colors that can only be carcinogenic only in large amounts.
Usually, well known food suppliers, Nestle, Fine Foods, Americana, etc, use approved colorants and preservatives.
Anyway, check out the FDA website for detailed info.

ABSOLUTELY.
In Europe, they have a huge list of artificial colorings which are FORBIDDEN. They're known as Es. I am not sure if the US has the same ban on these substances. I worry we don't, especially since it seems we already eat all kinds of bad stuff imported from China.
Splenda and other low calorie sugar replacements (so these are NOT the colors but the main ingredient in sweetners and some diet sweets and diet drinks) -I don't touch that s_t. It's not "proven" but too many people say it's not good for you b/c it can lead to cancer.

Having been around for quite a few years now and read newspapers and watched the news I have come to the conclusion that everything you eat and drink gives you cancer, so I am going to eat and drink exactly what i want and stuff them.
On a more serious note, both of my children inherited cancer from their Father, so pick the bones out of that.

There are many colours and flavours that are manmade using organic chemicals. The long term effects of these are not understood yet.
