If you can obtain a permit, then you can carry a hand gun, but not a rifle or shot gun. This law pertains to Oregon.
Edit. You can not carry one without a Permit.

A person can carry a concealed weapon if they have a license. Some establishments prohibit said carry even with a license.
Some states still allow people to carry a weapon in plain sight (e.g. you can walk down the street with your 6 shooter slung on your hip.) It depends on your state laws.
The discharge of that weapon within city limits is another matter altogether.
These appear to be a couple of decent links:

The correct answer is: "It depends." Where do you live? Do you have any felony or domestic violence convictions? Been dishonorably discharged from the military?
Some places (Alaska, Vermont) don't require any kind of licensing to carry openly or concealed. Some places allow open carry but not concealed. Some places allow concealed carry but not open. Some places will lock you up if they find a single bullet under the floormat of your car.

If you live in a place that allows the carrying of a firearm (usually through obtaining permits or licenses) then you may carry a firearm on your person legally.
The firing of a weapon is practically always illegal in populous areas, regardless of how legal it may be to carry it.

That depends. A very vague question.
Now that you provided some background....Check with the local authorities. It may be legal to carry openly, that does not make it wise. It would give the police a reason to throw you up against a wall and search you. It also may be legal in the state but not where you live due to local laws.

Not sure about Oregon, but in Southern Colorado as long as you don't go into any public buildings, you can have a gun belt, holster and six shooter strapped to your thigh.
