There is no evidence that any of the thousands of gods that humans worship exist. Do YOU believe in Zeus, Odin, Chrishna, Horus, Mithras, leprechauns, unicorns, Santa, etc.? If not, why not? There's your answer.

I don't believe in God because I don't see any reason to.
I look around the world, see the way people are, the way things work, and don't see any kind of evidence whatsoever that there is some all-powerful being involved. I'm not saying people can't be 'spiritual' or at least use human intelligence to live life in a thoughtful or good way, but I don't see why we can't do this on our own, and not just beacause of some mythological idea that we'll go to 'hell' if we're not good. It's very childish. Humans are capable of being great on their own, without any hocus-pocus help from imaginary deities. Also, the genuinely horrible way that people treat each other SPECIFICALLY in the name of whatever god they believe in is more than enough reason, to me, to see that it's all nonsense. If there was a god, wouldn't he/she/it have something to say about the chaos and evilness that human beings partake in all the time, in the name of religion?

Honestly, because it's just too logical that we made it all up to make ourselves feel safer, and some people are just too afraid to admit to that now. Plus all religions contradict each other and themselves all the time, and when they do it leads to bloodshed, which is supposedly the foremost sin in any religion, and yet is done in the name of god. Religious people also rarely represent themselves well. Mostly they come across as blinkered and obsessive, and refuse to deal in logic and facts, preferring 2000 year old books and hearsay. Plus there is precisely 0% justice in the world, and if there is a god that would allow his creations to live and suffer in a world like that when we enter the world with a blank slate, then I wouldn't be a Christian (or Jew, or Muslim etc.) if god walked right up and introduced himself to me.

What is the reason to believe in god?

For you to believe in dragons, mermaids or unicorns, would you need a reason to do so, or would you believe in them with no evidence?

Why does god get judged by a different standard?

Even if you do say that you will believe in a god without any evidence to support your belief, which god/gods/goddess/goddesses are you going to believe in? There are quite a few out there, many of them have a heaven or hell and most of those that do have contradictory requirements for entry.

Hmm, magically pointing a finger and saying "let there be light"? A huge invisible friend who is always there for u. And me. And Aaron Aranson and Mike Bailey and Sarah Curtis Gina Randall and Richie Donoghue and Javier Monero and Paulo Bounelli andXan Lu Wong et cetra, et cetra... I don't believe it because it doesn't make any logical sense. Just like if someone came up to me and claimed "There's a purple goldfish driving a tank with Abe Lincoln riding shotgun!" I would have a hard time believing that.

They don't believe in God because they're deceived. What I'm curious about is when all these non believers have a huge problem, do they say God help me.

Occam's razor. There is no explanation which requires god. In fact, explanations which include god are more complicated than those which exclude him.

Take the idea that god magicked the whole world into existence yesterday (or 6000 years ago). It is a simpler explanation, in and of itself, but then reality intrudes. You end up explaining things like how god created light from distant stars already on its way to Earth so that we could see stars and galaxies more than 6000 light years away. Either that or you start to attack reality as a test of faith. Religion quickly descends into nonsense.

I find no purpose in believing in a god. It has been my observation that people latch onto a religious belief to help them explain the things they don't understand such as death and what comes next. In the past religion has been used very effectively to control the masses. Don't' do this, don't do that, do this do that. In order to save their eternal soul the masses followed instruction. I am not a sheep in any other aspect of my life and didn't feel like being on to religion either.

There is no evidence for any gods, just a bunch of silly old books written by man & full of nonsense.

Because there is no evidence to suggest that a god exists.

However there is plenty of evidence to explain our existence through purely natural events.
