Both are great cars if you want the Altima you can get it in a 4cyl engine and in the v6 engine the 4 cyl has 175hp I believe and the v6 has 270hp. You can get all that stuff you want in the 4cyl if you want. As for the Sentra if you want one with a little kick to it get the SE-R spec v model it has 200hp and gets good mpg. This is also the 4cyl engine that come in the Altima. You can't go wrong with either one as long as you do the proper regular maintenance they will last you a long time. I have owned several different Nissan models and all have lasted me well over 200,000 miles. Well hope this helps

Man for get these people talkin about these crap cars like hyundai and ford...them things are TRASH...But yeah take it from some one who knows car and sells them, The Altima is a better choice over the sentra, but it depends on what model you are getting also. a Base Altima coupe isnt better than the SE-R Sentra, But the 3.5 Altima is...But if your leaning twards the altima wait untill next year to buy one..They are comming out with the SE-R verson and possibly a Convertible

I would not buy a Nissan. Period. If you are shopping, ask point blank whether there is a brake squeaking issue like the Altimas have. My 2007 Altima squeaks 90-95% of the time. The Nissan dealer now tells me it's a common issue, but not a "problem" that Nissan will fix. Merely an annoyance. A very expensive annoyance.

Ideally the Altima, i live in the UK and have the british version of the Altima which is the Primera. Go for the Altima because of practicality, space, rear leg room, good engines and also the performance/BHP.

I myself would get Sentra. It has better fuel econonmy and its cheaper. Since its cheaper you buy better navigational system on ebay. I heard some roomers it isnt the best for getting a kick but its not suppose to be horrible.

to me i would get and altima reasons: better value, uses vq35de engine for v6 trim (awarded as ward's top 10 best engine from 2002-2007) If you want a 4 cylinder, it's not bad either with 170 horse power and cvt manual mode... Now can you imagine your self driving an automatic with a touch of a manual transmission? and it looks sexy as hell. For sentra?naw too square.
