Okay, so I am scheduled to have tonsil and adenoid surgery. I am really nervous as to I have never had surgery before. If you have had either one, please answer this question! I am having a really tough time with it. Also the Dr. said that you get a HORRIBLE sore throat after. I know that you get ice cream, and miss school, but it doesn't help. Thanks to any help given!

Hi I had my tonsils out when I was 21. They don't give you Ice cream anymore they give you stuff like cornflakes and toast because it helps clean the area but it doesn't hurt really to eat these it's just like having a sore throat. You get a horrible taste in your mouth for a couple weeks afterwards and I would not eat any of your favourite foods at this time because anything I ate then I cannot stand now cos it reminds me of the weird taste. I was in no pain the day after but about three days after it was at it's worse like a bad sore throat - but you get to skive off work/school and stay in bed so it's all cool. It took me about two weeks to get back to normal. Don't worry it's not bad at all!!

I had mine out about age 45. Sore throat but I have had worse. Tired. I told my wife to leave the pain medicine and a bell by the bed and GET THE ^#(^(^*%* away from me and let me sleep. I don't want to be babied when I am sick.

I was basically up and about in about 3 days. Don't sweat it, it isn't so bad.
