Our Pastor had told us that all Christians should as a matter of faith in and devotion to Jesus, demonstrate the changes in dietary habits that he preached, and more. In this way we show that we are not Jews or Muslims but Christians. This would have no impact on the dietary habits of those religions, but Christians, as a form of daily communion and fellowship should partake of pork, shellfish and so forth. Has your church joined yet in this quiet statement of faith? It requires little effort and it does make a definite statement of faith in the Christ and his teachings.

Nope. Jesus declared all foods clean (Mark 7:18-20).
(Don't tell the Seventh Day Adventists that though, you'll get an earful)

As Catholic Crusader and a couple of others have pointed out, Jesus's dietary instructions were that all the foods banned in the Old Testament were now clean.

The rest of you self-styled experts, please read the Bible instead of claiming you know what's in it.

I think your Pastor has made a valid point.

The truth is that healthy eating that includes a healthy weight is something favorable to God; to keep one in shape and good health not to take off years of one's life.

All the other jabber about pork and shellfish was the old law that was fulfilled once Jesus came and died for our sins.

Being healthy is what God wants of us.

I think you better look into what your pastor is preaching because you wont find Jesus telling people to eat pork and etc. As a matter of fact, if you look at Jesus' life, I seriously doubt that He ever ate pork or anything else that wasn't kosher. I will not be eating any of those things. I'm a Messianic Jew and while the New Testament doesn't forbid eating the things that you mention it also doesn't command that we eat them.

Sounds like someone is being a bit legalistic here. I am sure that following the Bible for dietary instruction would help your health. The bible also says that man doesn't live by bread and water alone..but by the every word of God. The Bible also says that excersise (taking care of the body) profits but a little. The point being that God is more interested in us taking care of our spiritual temple he shares with us, than our physical temples. Is gluttony a sin...yes. Should we discipline ourselves at the dinner table...yes. Is this more important that being right with the Lord, more importatant than the confession of our sins...more important than our spirit lives...no.

Hope this helps

Jesus fufilled the law allowing a man to eat any food he chooses. I do believe Chrisitans are all allowed this freedom.
I am not aware of Jesus teaching to eat any certain foods.

Well its about time that I hear of a pastor that really preaches what is in the bible. Usually it is fat baptist preachers whose bodies are a living testament to a lifestyle of gluttony (and evidence of the lack of power god has in their lives) who are telling everyone else to stop sinning.

For those saying that jesus fulfilled the law, he said that not one jot nor tittle of the old law will pass away.

The eating of pork, shellfish and so forth is not a dietary law of Jesus. God Himself is the one who said do not call anything He has made unclean.

Could you give book, chapter and verse(s) where Jesus gives dietary laws?
