23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

These young men jeered at God's messenger and paid for it with their lives. Making fun of religious leaders has been a popular sport through the ages. To take a stand for God is to be different from the world and vulnerable to verbal abuse. When we are cynical and sarcastic toward religious leaders, we are in danger of mocking not just the person but also the spiritual message. While we are not to condone the sin that some leaders commit, we need to pray for them, not laugh at them. True leaders, those who follow God, need to be heard with respect and encouraged in their ministry.

Youths in the days of the Bible replaced into absolutely everyone till now the age that they have got been given married, maximum possibly residing at homestead with mommy and daddy. David replaced into one such adolescents and he took on Goliath and gained. So, those weren't 8 and 9 years olds, yet previous due teen and early 20s, like those that wander the streets of the U. S. as gang contributors, doingcontinual bys, gang rapes, and promoting drugs and their sisters on the streets. They have been dishonoring a prophet of God, and an more desirable half Elijah, which in simple terms had overwhelmed their clergymen in the competition, and the expression "bypass on up" replaced into equivalent to telling the prophet to die, wishing dying on him. Elisha could have cursed them, in spite of the indisputable fact that it replaced into God that achieved the little pagan loving apostates. What lesson? God will get rid of all fake worshipers of demonic Gods, particularly while they attack his servants. Revelation 18 via 19 exhibits that's coming.
