Throughout the bible, people of strong faith were blessed with increase. It sometimes depended on tithing.
Also it is written that God would have us be in health & prosper as according to our soul.
So? It is dependent on soul decisions.
If someone gets their wealth by falsely accusing others, or unethical ways on the job, then it isn't OK to be wealthy.
Also to gain wealth as an ethical person is good. The more one has the more one can help others with. It is more blessed to give than to receive.

God never say we can not get rich. King Solomon was the richest man in the world and there were many other men of God were wealthy in the history.
The problem is many of us once we get rich we forget about God. Money becomes our focus and purpose and our god. Nowadays we see a lot of preachers instead of preaching God's word, feed the sheep, they fleece God's people to fill their own bank accounts. They totally lost the sight of God and God is very pissed!
If you, as a minster of God, preach the true Word of God, God will never let you lack of anything. 1 Corinthians 9:13 Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake the offerings of the altar? 14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.
So the bottom line is: it is OK to have much money but never ever fall in love with money that you may fail to do what God wants you to do for Him.

It is definitely ok to be wealthy. I think preachers with a lot of money is ok if they would be willing to do the work for less money (if full-time) or for no money (if part-time). I think the intent of the preacher is what really matters, and God is really the only one that can judge that. In no way should preachers be required to be poor.

Being rich can be a good or bad thing. The love of money, the desire to have more and more power or influence at anyones or anythings cost or expense, is what makes it sin. But a rich man that shares his wealth to help the poor and needy and the environment, as well as his city and such, will be greatly blessed by God.

What did Yahshua say about the rich man? He had all kinds of stuff, kept the 10 commandments, but could NOT GIVE THEM UP to see heaven.
These 'big shot preachers' have NO CLUE where heaven is, but they are certainly being used for His purpose. What did the true and faithful servants do with their talents/money?(The word 'talents' here is very SPECIFIC in meaning MONEY). They invested it and multiplied it, using very little, so that in time, they doubled their money.
An example of this: a farmer takes a seed, plants it, the seed then grows and multiplies its seed many times. The farmer uses a little of it to feed himself, yet takes the multiple to do what? Plant MORE seed. But MONEY is not something you plant in the ground, it is something you use and multiply, collect INTEREST on, and keep it flowing. Part of what caused problems in the great depression(which was orchestrated by the banks, nothing more)was that people tried to KEEP their money, instead of leaving it in so that it would continue in circulation.
BTW, I consider myself to be a rich man, but it is not in things of this world, nor in material possessions. I can go where Abba wants me to go in a moments notice. And it is really nice living this way. :-)

Yes, because as long as we do as God wants us to, he provides for us. Preachers that have lots of money, have it, because they obey God, and yes sometimes they ask that we provide it for them, but they can't do it without us. Some Preachers can be thieves, they're not all perfect as we aren't either. Ministers of Christ would be poor, if God's people didn't support them. How else would they pay for bills, and how else would they get payed, after all they are considered non-profit organizations.

You know what, honestly...I have a greater respect for my pastor-who gave up a very good job to head our church fulltime and his wife became the primary breadwinner...than the tv pastors I see who have palatial homes and cars and $3000 suits. I think its ok to be wealthy..but it SO easily clouds the message and perverts people's view of the Gospel. Personally, I think that if you are going to preach about the fruit of the Spirit and the things of God you dont need to be draped in the things of the World. I think taking a pledge of 'poverty' would be wonderful. It would definitely separate out the sincere folks from the fleecers.

God asks us to give 10%. Whatever he gives us otherwise is ours to keep. Personally I would rather not be burdened with a ton of money, just enough to be secure. I do feel sort of weird about rich preachers, but its all God's money, if he gives us millions, he wants us to have it.

You know, I don't think it's ok for anyone to be wealthy when we have starving brothers and sisters, little children who have no idea what it's like to have a pair of shoes or a full stomach; the homeless who would give anything for a clean, safe place to lay their heads, and so on.
In my opinion, there is no honest wealth.

just because I'm a believe in Christ does not mean i have to be poor. if i ever do get wealthy is because I've work hard for it and God has blessed me. God is #1 in everything that i have and own. so if i win the lottery, its because God has blessed me. so why should i live in poverty just because im a christian?
