Don't do it! Finding an engine for that car is going to be expensive!!! For what you are going to invest in a rebuilt or new engine, you are better off paying more for a 350z with a lot less miles and possibily a warrenty. Not only is the engine going to be expensive but finding a shop to put the engine is is also a hassle you don't want.

350z Engine For Sale

how many miles does it have on it? how much are you buying it for? You should let us know this so we can help you more. A new engine for a 350Z (VQ35DE) will cost you about 4K, plus about 2K for labor. Add new tires, brakes, and possibily some transmission work, and your looking at about 10K in parts, labor, etc. Now if your paying say....12K for the car, it would only be about 8k more for a brand new 350Z, which will have the new engine, VQ35HR, which is going to be a WAY better engine. but do what you want. Good choice on the car too, btw!

I have news for you regarding the 350z engine. I just returned from the Nissan dealership (where i purchased the Z) service department and was told I needed a new engine. I have low oil pressure and rattling noise upon accelleration so I took it in. They priced a new engine at $11,289.00 for the "Value Advantage" engine, parts, and installation costs. I have a Magnetic Black 2006 with 128K mile and I still love it. The news definitely ruined my day. I'm ordering a remanufactured engine and having it installed for about $6K. at a local imports shop. I would sure like to know where a Nissan tech can up with such a low figure for a VQ35DE because that is a damn great price! LOL! Or perhaps they are trying to "con" me? Who knows. At least for now, with some TLC I will continue to drive it until the engine comes in.

What do you consider to be too many miles? Also what kind of driving did the car get as well as maintenance? If it was a highway driver, regularly maintained with good oil, filters and periodic tuneups. Can the owner provide detailed maintenance records from whomever did the work?
Just FYI, the cost of a replacement engine installed (parts and labor) will probably be in the neighborhood of $3000.00 and that does not include any work need on the trans.

350z Motor

Motor 4,700 dollars for a long block New flywheel and clutch motor and trans mounts installed for about 7,000 dollars However that engine properly maintained should last 250,000 miles or more. What do you mean by high miles? And if you can afford it why buy a used car when you can get a new one?

There are wrecking yards. OOPS they like the term auto recyclers these days. Brand new long engine assembly is nearly 5,000 dollars for the VQ 3.5 HR engine 2005 and up Z
