That is SO ridiculous to me!!! (see my previous questions and all the religions extremists who felt it necessary to inform me that I will be going to hell). Jews do not believe in Jesus, and yet the bible says that they are the "chosen people of God." So according to Christians, will Jews be burning in hell, too? Really? The people who founded your religion will burn in hell? I swear, religion makes NO sense!!!

I think it is more that some Christians make no sense. I dont think many realize that Christianity is based in Judaism.
I personally dont believe that Jews are going to hell, and to be honest I dont believe there is a hell. But I think I am in the vast minority of Christians.

The core of Christianity is that Jesus was the Messiah and that our salvation lies with Him.

The people that tell you you are going to hell are probably the same people that tell me Im going to hell because Ive never been baptized. They are of the classification: "Dont Confuse Me with the Facts, My Mind is Made Up"

The Old Testament gives us more than 2000 specific prophesies that have been fulfilled.
No other so called Holy book compares.Most of the 333 prophesies concerning the Messiah were fulfilled by the birth and life of Jesus Christ and the rest will be fulfilled at His second coming. A mathematician, Peter Stoner, had his graduate students calculate what the odds would be of any one person fulfilling just eight of these prophesies. He found the chance was one in 100,000,000,000,000,000 !Only a God who knows the future could have revealed these prophesies to those that He would have record them in His Word.

In spite of what is being taught today, the truth is we can reconstruct most of the life of Jesus Christ through non - Christian writers of the first century. Even Celsus who despised Christianity, never considered claiming that Jesus Christ did not exist.This is what can be learned from the writing of Celsus...

He was born of a virgin in a small village of Judea;
He was adored by wise men;
His birth was followed by the slaughter of infants by order of Herod;
He took flight to Egypt, where Celsus supposed Christ learned the charms of the Magicians;
After returning, He resided in Nazareth;He was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended on Him as a voice was heard from heaven;
He elected disciples;
He was a friend with publicans and other low people;
He cured the lame and blind;
He raised people from the dead;
He was betrayed by Judas;
He was denied by Peter;
In addition Celsus refers to several details of Christ's passion, crucifiction, and resurrection.

Twenty seven books of the New Testament, nineteen Pagan writers, and three Jewish writers testify to Jesus Christ's historical reality. When I hear people say that Jesus or the Bible is just a myth I just realise that they are simply unaware of the facts.I recommend The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel and or Skeptics Answered or The Gate Of Hell Shall Not Prevail by D. James Kennedy, and The Signature of God by Grant R. Jeffrey. The Old Testament gave us the Law and showed us that we were incapable of making it to heaven without a Savior. It is full of prophesies and foreshadowing of the coming Messiah. The New Testament is the fullfillment of all those prophesies. It shows us what God has done to reconcile us to Himself.May all your thoughts be taken captive by the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I am not judging no one for it is not for me to do. I am a Christian and I truly believe that salvation lies in the Fathers Holy Son. That is the meaning of Christian, Christ-Like. Judah to you means a place but it means praise to me. You have that right ,"religion makes no sense." To many by laws of man kind and not enough understanding of the Bible. Read the Old Testament and the New Testament then answer your own questions if you dare.

I think the question stems from a misunderstanding of what exactly Christianity is all about.

You see, there are literally 100's of Jewish prophecies that teach what the Messiah would be like.

Micah tells us WHERE he would be born, and Daniel even tells us WHEN he would be born.

Isaiah gets very bold in describing him, but that's not the point right now.

The point is, that if Jesus truly DOES fulfill all these prophecies, then he IS the Messiah of God. He's not a NEW religion, but the perfection of the TRUE religion (Judaism).

The New Testament says it like this, "The Law, which came 430 years after the promise, can not annul the promise." And furthermore, "If there were a Law that could give life, there would be no need for a new covenant." But the weakness of the Law is that it can only judge. The Messiah was to fix this by bringing in a new covenant, "after the order of Melchizedek".

If it IS true that this man (Jesus was his GREEK name. His Hebrew name was Yeshua, or Joshua.), but if he WAS the fulfillment of the promise, then what he said about himself was true. He said such things as "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me."

In fact, one of the biggest complaints of the Jews against the teachings of Jesus is that very much of it didn't sound very original, as it all came from Tenach and Talmud. Of course, that makes sense. The Messiah isn't going to make up something new, but build up on the original (ie Judaism).

But it was Jesus who said "If you do not believe that I came from the Father, then you will die in your sins." That wasn't something the Christians made up.

The Jews ARE the Chosen People, but as one man explained it, the natural branch can be cut off because of unbelief. He pointed to all the Jews who died in the wilderness because of unbelief, and only two from that generation actually entered the Promised Land, Caleb and Joshua. But it goes on to say that branches that were contrary to nature were grafted in to the branch when they DID believe. But, if the natural branch could be cut off because of unbelief, how much more so the branch grafted in contrary to nature? And then he concluded by pointing out that if the unnatural branch could be grafted in contrary to nature, how much more so can the natural branch be grafted back in when they believe?

Jesus said it like this, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in, trusts in, clings to and relies on him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

Earlier, it is said, "In the beginning was the Word. The Word was not only WITH God, but WAS God. ... All things that exist were created through the Word of God. ... And the Word took on a physical body and became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld the glory of the only begotton son of God, full of grace and truth. No man has seen God at any time, that is why the son of God, who came from the very heart of God, came to reveal God to us."

Later on, one of the followers of Jesus (they were all Jews, you know) asked Jesus, "Show us the Father, and we will be content." to which Jesus replied, "Have I been so long with you, and you still don't understand that when you've seen me, you've seen the Father? I and the Father are one."

I just realized that I've gone on and on. My apologies. I hope this answers your question. I hope I didn't muddy the waters worse than what they already were ;-}

God bless you as you strive to serve God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength :-)

The part of this that shows up as crazy is where some of us say others are going to Hell for their choices, or who they are.
How do we (you or I) know? our judge is God (Jesus Christ) not one another.

As for the Jewish question and they being a chosen people, Yes I believe they are a chosen people. And not I do not believe they are going to Hell for not accepting Jesus Christ in this lifetime.
I follow the LDS (or Mormon) teachings and doctrines, they teach that every one will have a opportunity to learn about Jesus and choose to accept him or reject him sometime before the resurrection. That is why the genealogy and temple work to be baptized and such for those who have died is so important to us.
The Jewish people for the most part have not yet chosen to accept Jesus as our savior, they still wait for his coming. This will be taken care of before the resurrection is completed.

The Jewish people are all the descendants of abraham. Because he was the first monothiest that had faith in the one true God he and his decendents were blessed, and are called the chosen people.
Jesus was jewish, he was called to preach to the jews.
Because of many jewish people unbelieve and the greed of the high priest, they crucified him.
Christianity is a continuasion of Judiasm. Jesus is the messiah. Most jewish people believe he hasn't come .yet.
But, not all. In the end times in the bood of revelations it
says that 10,000 of each of the 12 tribes wil come to believe.

I don't understand your argument in the subject line. This is like saying "If this movie was based on this true crime story, then why do they have the hero driving a truck instead of a Honda like he did in real life?" To be "based on" something doesn't mean to be "an exact copy" of something.

Not to say I don't find absurdities in these Christian claims of "everybody goes to hell but us", mind you. The Jews have a convenant. Who are the Christians to say their contract expired?

This was one of the early christian debates and they never got it clear. Other questions that the bible doesn't answer are what happens to people who died before Jesus lived or who never heard the "word". Also what happens to the souls of children who die before they are baptized or before they understand enough to believe (two more requirements of salvation).

The whole saved - damned dichotomy has twisted christianity into theological knots since they started.
