Yes, you can! You usually have to fly to the west coast though. Most cruises that go to Hawaii go from San Francisco, San Diego, or Los Angeles. Carnival, Celebrity, Holland America, Norweigian, Princess, and Royal Caribbean all go to Hawaii. Ask a travel agent for free brochures, or look online on the individual cruise sites for more information. If you go, have fun!

Norwegian Cruise line has a monopoly on cruises that originate in Hawaii but other cruise lines; Celebrity, Carnival, Holland America, Princess, and Royal Caribbean, offer longer round trip cruises from the West coast of the US. The options for a departure port include San Francisco, Calif; San Diego, Calif; Ensanada, Mexico; Long Beach (LA), Calif; and on a few occasions, Vancouver, Washington.

We are booked on a cruise to Hawaii from San Diego for next Sept. Most cruises from the West Coast US will be about 15 days or more. Carnival runs all of its cruises to Hawaii from Mexico, but all of the others are from US ports. The best port to leave from in my opinion is San Diego because the port is right nearby the airport just a 15 minute taxi ride away. Use the web sites below.

We went on the Princess cruise round trip from L.A. a couple of years ago . A few cruiselines (Holland, Celebrity, Princess) have the round trips from San Diego or San Pedro from late September to early May. Some others (like Carnvial) just do one-ways, from Hawaii to either Mexico or Canada, or from Mexico or Canada to Hawaii.

These cruises have to stop in a "distant foreign port" such as Vancouver or Ensenada because of the Passenger Services Act (blame Congress).

NCL America is American-flagged so it just sails around Hawaii. That's why these ships (Pride of America, Pride of Aloha, Pride of Hawaii) do not have casinos.

Some lines, such as Princess, offer round trips to Hawaii. You can not take this trip one way. Other lines, such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean offer one way cruises to Hawaii from the west coast. Usually these are the ships that are moving to Alaska from the Caribbean in April and May, or are returning to the Caribbean from Alaska in September and October.
