How strong is your disbelief ? How far would you defend your lack of faith? Just curious
For the record, I’m more curious than anything. I’m not even all that faithful myself.

Chris Koko – How could you know that there is no afterlife any more than a believer could know that there is?

Krasnoglaz – While I don’t doubt you can read, you obviously can’t comprehend. Thanks for the no answer! Congrats on the 2 points….good for you!

I am truly amazed how you atheist get so offensive. Just answer a question. I’m not even all that religious. I just can’t believe that any questions about your lack of faith (how this is taken as an insult by people willing to instantly argue about how they don’t believe is beyond me) gets you all so riled up. Are you all as a group incapable of reasonable debate?

I think I understand what you are asking, but you need to keep in mind that they do have belief just not in god.
Besides Atheism is a general term for several different ideologies including Buddhism, anti-religion, and even some forms of pantheism.
Many Atheists would would fight to protect the constitution and their right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Not really..if you're talking about dying FOR atheism.
A big point about it is that we know that there is no afterlife, which makes giving up your life rather more precious than for religious folk.
Love would probably be the only thing I would die for, i.e. to save someone I loved in an us or them situation.
I guarantee it'd still be a difficult decision though, as life is so amazing and brief a gift that you'd be crazy to give it up without some thought.

So, you're asking me if someone held a gun to my head and told me they'd kill me if I didn't accept Christ as my lord, or something like that, would i do it? Sure, I'd say it, but I obviously wouldn't believe it. And, even if I did believe it, is that the kind of belief that you'd be looking for?
Now, I can understand why believers wouldn't renounce their belief in the face of death. They think they'd get more of a punishment for doing that than they would for holding firm. Me, I know that I won't get any punishment for claiming to believe something I don't. I just get to go on living.

Do you believe in unicorns? Would you die to prove they don't exist? What would that accomplish? If someone held a gun to my head and told me to accept Jesus as my personal savior, I would say whatever they wanted me to say because I know this is the only life I get and I don't want to throw it away just to prove a point.

I would die for reason over the dangerous delusion of faith. It must be protected.

I don't understand the question.
If someone said 'say you believe in god or die' and held a gun to my head I'd be screaming hallelujah.
So what? I only have one life. Why cut it short to make a point to some ignorant theist?

What is this romantic fascination with "dying" for things? Life is much more demanding than that.
If you really want to put forth a challenge, ask people what they are willing to live for through their dull, plodding, unrewarding quotidien existence, year after year.

What is more important to me is the question: What are you willing to live for? I can do a lot more good in the world alive than dead.

I really don't see a lot of point in dying for anything.
However I will fight for my right to be free from religious oppression and fundamentalist totalitarianism.
So there.

It doesn't make sense to die because somebody else is crazy.
