Okay, let's give this a whirl:

Catholics: Can you please identify yourself as "Catholic" and say something nice about our protestant brothers and sisters in Christ?

Protestants: Can you please identify yourself as "Protestant" and say something nice about your Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ?

I will go first: I respect how protestants spend so much time reading their Bibles. Many Catholics could learn a lesson from that. I also respect how protestants spend so much extra time at church functions on weekdays, and are very friendly if a newcomer comes in. Many Catholics could learn a lesson from that too.

Okay: Who is next?

I'm a Catholic. I've attended many Protestant services, and have a lot of Protestant friends. I admire the emotional openness of the Pentecostal worship style, the steadfastness of the Lutherans, the friendliness of many of the Baptists I've met, the welcoming nature of the Nazarenes, the beautiful liturgy and social progressiveness of the Episcopal Church, the intellectual freedom of Unity and the Unitarian Universalists, the devoutness of the Mennonites, Brethren and Amish, the charity of the Presbyterians and Methodists, and much more. I have, for the most part, been made to feel very welcome when attending Protestant services. And I've attended many Protestant pot luck dinners, and was treated to a fun time and some excellent food.

Catholic

I love the Catholic Church it feels like home to me. As a former Protestant(Catholic Convert, family is still protestant) I feel that both Catholic and Protestants share many things in common in the way we worship. I always pray that we can all become part of the Body of Christ in harmony with each other and that our differences are just forgotten. I love ALL of my sisters and brothers in Christ, no matter our denomination. God Bless all of you know and forever.

Ok, I'm a Catholic.
What I like about Protestants is how they are always trying to evangelize. You almost never see Catholics handing out tracts, or bibles, or going door to door trying to convert people. Actually, I don't LIKE how they are always trying to evangelize, but I think it's a good idea. LOL

Oh, and I like what you said about the Bible reading thing. I've often noticed that myself. We Catholics could definitely take a lesson from that!

I know a lady that is Catholic and she is so sweet. She loves the Lord just as much as I do. Take away the title and you have a Christian. That is what we both are, Thank the Lord for this.To many people are getting hung up on titles etc, when we should all be that light on a hill for all to see.My father-in-law was a Catholic now in his eternal resting place but he loved Jesus too. I have no problems here. Protestants, such as myself does not realize that Catholics pray also, they don't just go to the Priest. To many people think that Catholics use beads only. That is for penance not for worship or prayer. Bless you for this question. Let Jesus light and life shine through us and get rid of the bickering. Jesus said it best when He said" Those that are not against me are for me." We are all for Him.

Iam Catholic
Iam very indebted in my development as a Catholic to many protestants who were very welcoming to me and supportive of my faith as a Catholic.

Baptist Bible study and interdenominational charismaticgroups while I was at university helped my faith

Anglican( Anglo-Catholic and Anglo-Evangelical) and Lutheran worship groups introduced me to much wonderful music(including Gregorian chant and Medieval Catholic hymnody that I did not hear in Catholic churches)

I am Catholic (obviously, from the name). Former Baptist.
Of my siblings and parents, I am the only Catholic among a variety of Protestant evangelicals or fundamentalists.

I love and respect all of my brothers and sisters in Christ. How can I not, when I owe so much to the good Christian people I met in my younger days, who showed me what it was to know Christ when I did not ... who embraced me unreservedly, treating me with kindness, even when I was unkind to them ... and who rejoiced with me when I believed? To those from whom I learned to treasure and immerse myself in the word of God, I owe a debt I cannot repay.

For all of these, and the many more like them, I give thanks to God.

And even if there are some who cannot accept that I crossed the Tiber River because Christ led me to its banks ... I love them still.

Protestant. I admire the devotion some Catholics have for Jesus. The most Godly woman I ever knew was Catholic, and boy, some Protestants don't like to hear that! It isn't the denom. anyway...it's Christ that counts!

Catholic

I grew up singing, and always preferred the Protestant hymns to the Catholic hymns. The Catholic hymns just seem like space fillers rather than songs of worship.

I am Catholic.

The best wedding sermon I have ever heard was at a friend's wedding (Lutheran if I remember correctly). The Pastor said no matter how much you (the couple being married) love each other right now, if you love and follow the Lord in twenty years you will love each other far more than you do right now. Good stuff.

The second best wedding sermon I have ever heard was when my wife and I got married. As a good husband I should do what is best for my wife, without regard to the cost to myself.

I am a protestant. I find the Catholics I know to me warm, giving and very intelligent. I apologize for the many ignorant remarks that they receive in this forum!
