No.

The character of jesus was plagiarized from many mythical religious characters from the past.

I suppose it is possible that, to add some originality, maybe some of the jesus character's personality was taken from someone who may have existed at the time of the buybulls writing.... but I seriously doubt that this jesus person ever existed. Whether he was a man-god hybrid, or an ancient philosopher... i do not believe he ever existed.

Yes, except that he claimed to be the Son of God, and that puts him outside the normal bounds of philosophy. He certainly had some fascinating ideas and thoughts, and well worth reading even if you exclude the religious assertions. I think he would be ranked among the top philosophers if he wasn't classified as a religion. Another big problem with him as a philosopher is nothing is recorded in his own words, all of it is the interpretation of his disciplines. Normally, he would need to have written the thoughts himself so we could understand him straight away.

PS: Your avatar and username are beautiful, now that you explained it to me.

I believe that he existed. Whether or not anything he said in the gospels is true or made up is, however, up in the air. However, given that Jesus sounds in many ways like a socialist, I'm betting that a good deal of it may have been true, just because of the sheer unlikelihood that anyone would make up such a revolutionary character.

I don't know if Jesus really existed or not. There's a conspicuous lack of independent historical verification of his life. Odd considering how influential he was supposed to have been. And how problematic to the authorities of the time.
But either way, I don't believe he was anything more than a man.

God. Know of any philosophers that died then came back to life? I don't. I have never heard of a philosopher that was willingly tortured, and died all for the sake of others to forgive their sins and make eternal life possible for them. I don't think philosophers can do miracles, bring people back from the dead, arise to Heaven, and change the course of humanity. Jesus did things that one might call philosophical but it didn't stop there.

I believed he existed, annoyed the high level rabbis so much they threatened to riot/revolt and the Romans used their well known delicate touch to chop off the problem before it became a headache. There are mentions in Roman texts of something of that sort happening but I can't remember which papers.

I think that the 'historical' Jesus might have existed, but there is really no other source than The Bible to confirm this. The person we know as Jesus was probably a compilation of many teachers of the time whose abilities were greatly exaggerated.

Philosophical nit-picking aside, because of the fact i comprehend this could be a "trick" question and that i'm responsive to the asker's motive (as he asked a similar question from the theists' and atheists' attitude) ... ... I "comprehend" there are no gods. to easily declare, "i do no longer believe there are gods" is comparable to asserting, "There are no gods" and the different place, in my opinion, is psychological cowardice. I fairly have not seen one drop of info to point that any form of "god" exists exterior of susceptible people' fervently hopeful imaginings.

No, I used to, but now I'm convinced that Jesus is a fictional character, and never lived in as either a God or a man...
