I am employed and like where i work but basically i want to make more $$. (Don't we all? :) )

I currently have the opportunity to work at a different company for more money.

My question is how do i leverage this offer against my current employer? In other words, what steps/things/articles of support should I give to tell them another company is offering me more money but if they increase my current salary i will stay?

Thank you!

If you are on good terms with your boss, talk to him or her, tell them about the other offer, and that you'd really like to stay where you are but the money is hard to pass up. They might be able to come up with something.

Be prepared, though, for the possibility that they'll tell you they can't really do much and that you should take the other offer.

You might also say (even if it's a stretch) that you weren't really out looking, but this other opportunity just kind of came out of nowhere.
