In religious terms, I was taught from earliest childhood to pray the Rosary daily, be modest in dress, not to take the Lord's name in vain, wear a saint's medal or crucifix under my shirt at all times, practice Christian charity, and attend Mass regularly.

I wasn't taught not to wear anything past mid thigh nor to not expose my stomach, because I am a guy, so who cares what I put on. Everything else you mentioned though, I was also taught, and still put in practice. I was also taught to read the bible everyday, meditate on it, and research about it. Plus I was taught to tell others of my findings, which I also still put in practice.

I was R.C. for 27 years. Taught similar things and I do not practice anymore. You can speak as you wish but must be sensitive of the company you keep, if you feel it is help then pray when you feel moved to do so, I don't think clothing matters in certain situations but you must be intelligent enough to know what that is. I dress/speak as I like depending on the situation and the company. I'm in my 30's, none of what I was taught makes sense for me at this point.

I was taught to be true to myself and if that includes dropping the F bomb a few times then, well, so be it. I was also taught that with time society changes and because God is the all-knowing, he planned society to be this way. So, if cursing and wearing something a little revealing is accepted by society then God must accept it too.

I was taught that God is in all of us and I was taught to love God. So although, some people, scare me, hate me, want to hurt me or judge me, I should do whats right. Not based on what others do, just based on my love and respect for God and myself. Means loving and respecting myself and loving and respecting others. What kind of clothes you wear truly is not something God cares about when people are hating each other and killing each other in His name.
That's what I was taught.

I was taught to always be honest, to be respectful of the feelings of others, to think for myself, and to be independent.
I don't think my mom was terribly happy when I learned they made clothes that exposed stomachs and upper thighs, but it wasn't part of my core teachings.

I was taught to never run out in the street, and to love and respect them. I was taught to figure out problems for myself, but to come to them if I needed help. To be creative and find what my passions are, but above all be kind, courteous and helpful wherever and whenever I can.

I was taught always to listen, to learn, to respect the thoughts and ideas of all, and above all else if I have nothing nice to say not to say anything at all!

I was taught a bunch of nonsense and told that it was the most important thing in life.
I'm glad I saw though it and returned to my natural Atheist state, that I was born with.
