uh, apparently you dont read the "papers" because the turkish resolution on going into iraq was just passed and the US has not done anything to stop the pkk/kurdish rebels from attacking turkey.

Its because its a balancing act. If we attack the PKK, nothern Iraq becomes a problem. Northern Iraq is quiet. Northern Iraq even has some tourism. Not a lot of course. If the US Army went after the PKK, all that would get messed up. Also, its a rough area they hide in. Small groups in mountains. It would be like another Tora Bora.

The biggest thing that seems to happen is that the PKK attacks something in Turkey, and then goes and hides in the mountains of Iraq. The KRG will try to stop them, but the KRG does not have control over them. The best option is to let the KRG deal with them, but that is a slow process and his its own politics as well.

In addition, the PKK has their families around them all the time. They know if they get killed, their children will be marders. That is already a problem in the rest of Iraq and Afganistan.

So the answer is, its a mix of military and political balancing that US Military has been doing. Now this Armenian Genocide bill is tipping the balance and Turkey is flexing their muscle because of it, and they have justification, there are terrorist there, the bill is giving them an easy way to push it through now.

So far this is the slowest invasion In Turkish history. I think Turkey is still in the political phase, but another PKK raid and Turkey could attack any momment. One of the things that hurt the PKK is the terrain. The PKK can't live in the mountains for years, the PKK only have a small area to work with and Turkey has the second largest NATO army outside the U.S.

Because the Kudish part of Iraq is the one quiet place in Iraq. Now that Congress pushed through the Armenian genocide bill they have managed to alienate the one Muslim democracy that was working with the US. Nice job Congress-don't worry about the genocide happening in Darfur right now, it's the one that took place in Turkey 100 years ago that is important.

Because the US secretly wants war to gain superiority over the middle-east... that way we can have all the oil we want.
