I recently heard Christianity maligned as a "doomsday cult". I disagree, of course.

Unfortunately, this label applies if Christians are anticipating the "end of the world" in our time.

Having studied the Bible, I have concluded that we're nearing the end of the AGE, but not the end of the 'world'.

Numerous prophecy fulfillments occurred at the end of the age appointed to the Jews, including their eviction from the land of promise and the destruction of the temple in 70AD.

The first age ended with the destruction of Nimrod's tower and the scattering of the people, the second age ended with the destruction of the Jewish temple and the scattering of the Jews, and this third age will end with the destruction of Mystery Babylon and the re-gathering of Christians at 'the last trump' and the final age (the Kingdom Age) will end with the destruction of the heavens and the earth, the defeat and ultimate disposition of Satan into the Lake of Fire and the final judgment. I believe the earth is very close to the prophecy being fulfilled in the book of revelations when the seven vials are poured out upon the earth and the seven seals are opened. I believe we are VERY close to this happening. During this time, I believe the earth will be purged like it was in the flood of Noah but not destroyed. I think the people who survive this period will be few and far between. Afterwards Jesus will set up his 1000 year reign on earth. After this is over there, will be a new heaven and a new earth.

Yes. It is that 3rd age you speak of that we are nearing. The Bible uses the earth, as we do, to mean both the literal planet and the people on it depending on the context.

What is meant in this 3rd age you speak of, is the corrupt governments and agencies and before them the false religions that they destroy as Babylon the Great as well as the supporters of these groups. This is the world that will be destroyed.

The Bible makes it clear in many places such as Psalms 37: 9-11 showing the meek will inherit the earth to live forever upon it. the literal planet will not be destroyed but brought back to paradise conditions as in the Garden of Eden. It was the original purpose of mankind to expand that Garden to cover the whole planet. That has not been done ...yet.

Will this be within 40 yrs.? We don't know. Jesus doesn't even know. (Matt. 24:36) We were given signs in Matthew ch. 24 and other places. The trouble is men of good conscience see all these things happening on a world wide scale as predicted but they think things could not increase in volume.

As an example: An only child, brought up in a quiet home feels assaulted when moving into a loud environment of a noisy job or city. One from a family of six kids treats it as just another day. Men of good will, a good clean conscience, can not see mankind treating each other worse than now. Those who have been closer to the world know the depravity will get much worse.

So, it to be expected that some men thought the end was closer. No one knows the exact date. That is why Jesus referred to it as coming like a thief in the night. No burglar sends an RSVP invatation.

Hello,

As Jesus himself said, only the father in heaven knows this for sure. People have been predicting the end of the world for 2 millennia and when you study Revelations you can see that even John and many contemporaries thought the end was close at hand during the reign of Domitian.

Since then there have been many predictions which fail to occur but he does elude to the fact that the end comes like a thief in the night when we least expect it. Chances are I will not live a full 40 years barring great medical breaks or wonder drugs since I'll be in my mid 90's; most males in my lineage make it to late 70's at best.

That said, if I get hit by a car tomorrow or have a massive fatal heart attack, it is the end of the world for me anyway so though I'd find the end times rather fascinating, I do not get too obssessed or worried about them.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

Well, Im no Christian, but i do have some thoughts on the subject. To label anyone as a Cult has always been the job of the church, so the church itself being a cult is kind of funny, or atleas ironic.

No to get down to the dirty business, quite honestly, it doesn't matter when we think the end of the world is coming. To quote a source you will be comfortable with, Acts 1:7 says, It is not for you to worry about the days and times the Father has put under his own authority.

Honestly, as a christian, you have obligations to the community, and quite frankly shouldn't have time to worry about what may or may not happen in the next 50 years. Christ never worried about the end until the end was right on top of him.

You guys should be out fulfilling the duties that you carry with your bond with God. Discipleship is supposed to top your lists with charity, caring for the sick, weak, and less fortunate. (as long as your not forcing it down my throat in text, leadership by example is the best method)

Hope that helps, and cant hold it against me too much that i believe in a different set of Gods and Goddesses. Good luck on your pursuit of Apocalypse!

THE END OF THIS WORLD IS NOT DOOMS DAY

Is it 57 years to the coming of Christ Jesus? Rev.1:7; Eph.2:7; 3:21; The world with Jesus is without end [ this old world had Satan in it ], with people dying,
Jesus is the resurrection and the life. 1Cor.15:22-28; 2Pe.3:13; All must be made as new as before Eden.

Matt.24:3 [ this old world will end ], 7 [ after major wars ]. 14 [ the new world is coming in and that is the kingdom of Jesus ], 15 [ Daniel's time of the end prophecy to be fulfilled, mainly Satan down ]; 21 [ tribulations to believers ], 34 [ Father, son and his son ], 36 [ God alone knows the day and hour ].

'"The end of the world" as we know it' is perhaps a better way of reading whatever text you are reading. Consider the writer and the time and circumstance he is writing in, perhaps can give you a better perspective of what is meant.

Also, remember many so called Biblical text were translated and re-translated over the ages, each age had their own issues and interpretations. So, what you are reading has to be unraveled with respect of these translators. Heard of 'Chinese whispers'? This is not too different.

Then consider the people who you are referring to - it is their interpretation of these re-translated texts. No wonder people end up buying new tennis shoes when the comet came around the last time......

Keep (re)searching.

I don't know about the next 40 years. The prophecies in Isaiah about the second and final restoration is believed to be fulfilled in 1948 after WWII where Israel was once again reclaimed to the Jewish people. Revelation 13, the first and second beast are considered by many to have allready been fulfilled in the 1,260 year reign of the Catholic Church. When interperting the time span of the reign using theomatics; the 42 month reign predicted in the bible is translated to 1,260 days, God uses days to represent years = 1,260 years

Those of The True Christian Faith must live as if Christ could call us home at any moment... because He could.... that does not mean we are to go about like Chicken Little yelling Repent! Repent! The End is near... We are to live our own live... personaly... in preperation for Christ's Call... and... we are to share The Good News of The Salvation Message to those who are receptive to it... The "end timers", unfortunatly, many times actualy turn off more than they turn on... The Good News is The Message... not dooms day.... and we of The Faith share The Good News by our Witness through our lives... much more than we do so by "preaching hell fire and brimstone"... there is a place for the hell fire and brimstone preaching... but it is not to the new seeker and the non-believers...

Like it has been said no one knows the day nor the hour of the end but we must prepare and live like today will be the last. Redeem the time since it is short.
Love all as much as possible. Warn all those who don't believe, and keep yourself pure. Very interesting your views on the end of ages. God bless.

I predict the "end of the world" for me within the next 40 years or so. Write this down so you will remember me as a prophet. In 40 years or so I will be 100 years old and it is very likely it will be the "end of the world" for me.
