Ok, I think you're confused. Nooses hanging from doorways or trees is usually some kind of statement about the many lynchings of black people that took place in America during the civil rights movement and before. This is obviously still a highly emotive issue for people, especially for black people, and so they may react in an emotional way, which may mean rioting. However, their reaction has nothing to do with their religion, but is instead about racial persecution and slavery.

I think you may have seen reports of the events that occurred in the American town of Jena, Lousiana last year. Several black students at a majority white school chose to sit under the so-called 'white' tree. The following day, nooses were hanging from the tree. The students who hung the nooses were not expelled, but 6 black students who were caught up in the ensuing chaos are being tried in court, several facing lengthy jail terms. This case served to highlight the severe racism that still lingers in parts of rural America, and was shocking to many because the lynchings of last century are really not that long ago.

Because a lot of people living in these impoverished parts of America are strongly religious, I think perhaps you have confused the issues of religion and race at play here. Many black people campaigning against this kind of racism are strongly religious, but their campaigning is not directly connected to their religion. As far as I know, this is the only use of nooses in the context you describe, and I hope this will help you understand why so many people still find it such a distressing image.

PS: do some Google research and you'll understand more. Or just read this:

Oh, and listen to Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit', which is about lynched bodies, and is absolutely beautiful, but incredibly sad.

I can't remember the last good Christian riot we've had in this country. Maybe it was when Tammy Faye Baker declared that makeup is the Devil's work.
