No God does not love the United States more than the rest of the world.
And if you actually do some deep research about the founding fathers and even until 50-75 years ago our country was based on God. The founding fathers of the U.S.of A. were all God fearing men. Our country has changed allot in the past years and our country is trying to take God out of our country...off our money, off the wall of the supreme court...etc.
Thankfully none of these things have gone through but our country has deffinately fallen away from the beliefs that we were founded on.
So because of the history of our country I believe that is part of why politicians feel the need to end their speeches with that.
Also it has been proven that candidates are supported more when they have or claim to have a belief in something rather than not and the most commont "thing to believe in" is God.
Although I believe that they are really missing the mark.

dh_etc, since when were you the country of choice again? Last time I checked you shared a massive border with a third world country. So some people from a third world country move in and you assume everyone wants to live there? I can't stand these Americans who seem to think they're the 'freest' or the 'land of opportunity' and trust me there are a lot on this site. It is simple, laughable ignorance on the part of these people. And erm... the reason your population is almost entirely descended from immigrants is because you used to be a colony. So every American who isn't a Native American is technically a descendant of an immigrant... You are just one country among many. You really need to realise that at some point.

Well since 80% of the People that make up the population of the United States are Christian the Politician is just speaking to the Majority. What would you have him say?

As most Americans believe in god, it resonates with the most voters. If the tables were turned and most Americans were atheists you would not hear them saying this. Politicians always prostitute themselves to the largest number of voters, but then, thats their job isn't it? Aren't our elected leader supposed to be representatives of the people? Aren't they supposed to be doing just that?

Hi....
'Why does every politician feel the need to say "God bless America" after every speech?'
Very stupid aren't they?...
When you think, that 'god' actually does not exist!!!

It sure seems that our government loves no other than themselves and thinks America is God's favorite. But the irony of it all is that when they say it, it's a plea for "We need all the help we can get!".

They always get real religious when they want to get elected.
It got Bush elected. Get the TV Evangelists on your side and you got it made.
They are as crooked as the politicians.

Politicians tend to like those things that they can say without costing them any votes.
