It is just a man-made piece of fiction. The only thing that bothers me is that people not familiar with the truth might believe some of that fiction.

If Christians & Muslims truly have any faith in their respective Religions, they would not be troubled by the Divinci Code.

If any Christian or Muslim has become emotionally upset by the Divinci Code, then they cannot be 100% sure of their faith.

As I am not Religious, the Divinci Code to me is nothing more than a story, and not a particularly good story at that.

If one believes it is a story and not true, it isn't offensive.

However there are gullible people out there who, instead of studying history, will believe in the fallacious statements the "Duh"-vinci Code makes. Its really quite sad that some Americans would be inclined to believe in conspiratorial, fictional, has no basis in history, reason, or logic, STORIES than the account of 12 apostles who willingly lived and died for a man they believed was the Son of God. The latter has the weight of historical evidence, the former? none.

Another issue I have with the book is that it makes itself out to be well researched and factual in its claims. Anyone who is familiar with the history of Christendom knows the claims the book makes are utter nonsense.

That's really sad when a fiction book based on a "fictional" history hypothesis is considered offensive, just because you've made an assumption about your religion.

You assume that Jesus wasn't married and didn't have children, the Bible doesn't say one way or the other, thus it's not important to your faith.

But I'm only an atheist, what do I know?

No, I'm not offended. I'm just tired. Seems that every stinking movie since The Exorcist that involves the Catholic Church casts a negative light on it. The only good priests in Hollywood are ex-priests or priests that doubt their faith.

I'd really love to see something about the abuse of Catholics in Protestant Europe. But that will never happen.

Entertaining book and YES, it was offensive. I did not see the movie after reading the book.

Not really. I love the book, but I'm a Roman Catholic. As long as people except the book as just a well thought out theory, and not fact, then I have no problem with it.

No, I find it interesting, doesn't mean I believe it. I don't take offense to Harry Potter either, or Scooby Doo, or Bewitched, or the Great Pumpkin.

How do you know that the bible isn't fiction or re written? I was a christian and I think that the bible was edited over the century's. While divinci code may not be exactly what happend, it raises great, thought provoking questions. I forgot, your not allowed to ask questions about your religion if your a christian or your being blasphemous. You have to "have faith" that centuries of political and religious leaders didn't edit the bible. BTW there are over 50 different versions of the bible, if you don't believe me, go to a bookstore.
